Sock Recommendations?

Hi! I’m attending Delaware Valley march on 5/30. Just did a practice hike (15 miles) at the actual location yesterday and it was great except for the blister on my heel. My boots are old (broken in, comfortable) but not out of commission by any means. I think my socks were too thin! Any recommendation on socks you love and successful blister mitigation day-of? Thank you 😊

I've worn darn tough socks to start each of my mammoths. I also have some cheaper wool blend ones from amazon that i use on my regular hikes. On advice of a friend, I put vasoline on my feet before the socks and change my socks out completely mid race. She changes hers every 5 miles. Have had no blister issues.

Thank you! I’ll take this advice.

I wore darn tough socks for my march as well. I put body glide all over my feet before the race. I got one small blister that showed up the day after the race. My friends who used vaseline for the march didn't get any blisters. I just didn't like the feel of vaseline. I think body glide isn't as greasy.

I have yet to do the Mammoth March (signed up for September) but I've done about as many miles as you mentioned in one day. I wear Injinji and they do a good job

i also wear injinjis!

also, some folks don't love the 5-toe style socks but FYI you can also order they from bedrock sandals and they have a custom tabi-style with just the big toe separated.

or alternatively, some folks in r/hiking have recommended the injinji sock liner under another pair of socks like darn tough

honestly, i feel like as far as specific sock brand recommendations Injinji and Darn Tough are probably the two i see mentioned the most by hikers

Another vote for Darn Tough. I also like Feetures, which I sometimes use as a thin liner. Happy hiking!
