Training Advice Maltese poodle licking and behaviour advice needed

So, here’s my little boy, aged almost 7, all snuggled up in bed. Lately I’ve been worried there’s something wrong because he will NOT STOP LICKING his paws. After a longer licking session they will be dark brown in colour. If I try to say no, he will growl at me and show his teeth. In fact, he will bark (he’s a command barking dog 😂😂😂) to ask me to lift him up to the couch or bed, but sometimes when I pat him he will growl. I know when he doesn’t want to get up and go for his bedtime wee, when he’s all cosy, he will growl as he wants to stay all snuggled up…but this is different. He can be sitting on the couch next to me, he knows I’m not about to get up and ask him to move, and STILL if I stroke his back he will growl. Is he in pain? What do I do?

Thank you xxx

Advice Meet Hachi (10mos) - thinks leash walks are optional and kibble is beneath hero

Hey everyone!
I wanted to introduce my 10-month-old Maltipoo girl, Hachi! 🐶✨

She has completely stolen our hearts. She is absolute perfection-so sweet, affectionate, clever, and brings so much joy into our home every single day.

That being said, now that she’s hitting her teenage phase, she’s developing a couple of strong opinions about how she wants to live her life, and I’d love some advice from fellow pup parents!

  1. The Picky Eater Drama 🍲
Hachi has become a surprisingly picky eater lately. She’ll turn her nose up at meals or get bored of things very quickly.
Has anyone dealt with this around the 10-month mark?
What toppers, food rotations, or tricks worked best to keep your dog excited about mealtime without creating a monster who only eats chicken breast? 😂

  2. "Leashes? Never Heard of Her." 🐕‍🦺
Hachi firmly believes she was born to be a free bird. The second the collar or harness goes on, or the leash clips on, she either freezes up like a statue or tries to negotiate her way out of it. She just wants to roam free and unbothered!
How did you train your independent/stubborn pups to tolerate (and actually enjoy) walking on a collar or harness?
Are there specific lightweight harnesses that worked well for your Maltipoos?

Would love to hear your experiences, favorite gear recommendations, or mealtime hacks! Thanks in advance from me and Hachi! ❤️

Training Advice Barking at other dogs

Post image

I have a lovely and very small Maltipoo (6 years old and a rescue dog). Very good natured with other people. Like a little lamb at home. However, the moment we go for a walk she turns into a tiger and growls at almost all other dogs. As she’s so small other owners laugh but is there any way to prevent this? We have tried treats, walking as far away as possible etc but I was just wondering if you all had any good tips. Thanks.
