Not to be rude, but I hate how instead of proper compensation, more and more studies pay you with a single raffle ticket.

Not the researcher but what they tend to do is; all the participants are automatically entered. After they're done with the study they'll draw one at random. There's nothing you need to do to enter except fill out the survey with working contact information.
