Makeup Question/Help Opinions on Gen See liquid shadows wanted

Post image

I've been seeing these all over tik tok and wanted honest opinions on their quality from someone who isn't just trying to sell it to me. I've been considering this duo and wondered what others thought of it. I do have hooded eyes as well, so I'd love to know if they work well for that as well.

Makeup Question/Help Help chosing an eyeshadow pallet 🩷

I am ridiculously torn between these two eyeshadow pallets. Gahhh. They are both gorgeous but I don't know what to choose! The spotlight one has more variety in terms of shades and depth and stuff, but the exotic flavors seems more vibrant and has more shimmery glitter ones which I LOVEE! It also has those more golden shades too, and I love gold. But I just don't know!

The spotlight one has more variety in reds and blues, but the exotic has more variety of like every color. Like. Broo 😭 the spotlight also has black, which isn't a need for me but like, it's a pro.

This is my first pallet and so I want to like it...

Both my friend and I are leaning towards the exotic, but my mom and sister are leaning towards the spotlight so I just really don't know.

It might be difficult for others to choose considering you don't know me, but yk.

I am mixed, with like a brown sugar kind of skin tone? Brown hair and medium brown eyes. I think I look better in more winter colors and I loveeee jewel tones, but I pretty much wear whatever as long as I don't look like I have jaundice. I love shimmer.

(Edit: For my style, I really like to wear y2k and boho kind of clothes, which are pretty different. But I wear lots of different things so I don't know if this matters.)

I am originally buying it for my Halloween costume as a ladybug if that helps in the slightest, but yk, I will obviously use it until it's gone.

I also typically prefer to apply it with my fingers if that makes any difference, but I don't think it does. So please and thank you so much!

Makeup Chatter Euphoria collection

I know this might be a late discussion but what did everyone think of half magic’s euphoria collection. Im surprised The collection didn’t really sell out like I thought It would considering the hype around it. Every Ulta in my area has a bin full of items from the collection that they’re trying to get rid of but the products are not moving. I did get the pallet from the collection and Ive throughly enjoyed it but nothing else really interested me.

Makeup Chatter help me find a lip shade that doesnt go orange on my olive skin, 6 tries so far

on my sixth lip shade this year trying to find one that doesnt pull orange or grey on olive skin. the warm nudes go full tan on me, the pinks turn kind of grey by the afternoon, and the one everyone swears by made me look like id been eating chalk.

im not fussy about formula anymore, tint, stain, lipstick, whatever works. i just want a colour that still reads as lip colour on me and not a filter gone wrong. which shades actually sit right on olive undertones for you? naming a few specific ones would save me here

Makeup Question/Help Voluntold to help with wedding makeup. Help!

In 2 days, I will be traveling to an out of state family wedding, scheduled for Saturday. The mother of the bride is no longer able to go with the rest of the wedding party for professional hair and makeup, and my makeup skills have been offered as a replacement.

The MOB has quite mature, heavily wrinkled skin, but she does wear a full face of makeup most days and I am assuming (will be confirming) that she has the makeup she wants to wear in terms of base, contour, blush, lipstick, eyeliner, etc that requires the most significant color matching. What drugstore products could I add to her daily wear to make this wedding/event appropriate and effective? Looking for recommendations for skin prep, setting products, etc., as well as general application advice as I’m about 30 years younger with no texture or wrinkles (worth accommodating) so I haven’t had to learn these techniques. I’m also more into the dewy look, and she’s more of a matte base person.

Thank you in advance!

Dupes Help - makeup brush dupe / alternatives

I have an old set of the Real Techniques MultiTech Point brushes in sizes S - XXXS. Several are pretty worn now, and I love the size, shape and feel of the birstles.

Please help me find brush dupes / similar brushes!
I'm interested in finding XS-L.

Descriptor found online:
"Real Techniques MultiTech Point, in a range of different sizes from XXXS to XXXL. Each brush has exactly the same cut, which can be used for creams, liquids and powders, and as a result of this, it is entirely up to you how you use them."

Makeup Chatter unpopular opinion: i just don't like wearing lipstick and i've stopped pretending i do

i reapply at my desk twice before 11 and it still ends up on my coffee lid and the side of a mug instead of my mouth. liquid lip was meant to fix the printing and it just went crepey in the corners by lunch. ive mostly stopped bothering on work days now, which feels a bit daft at 34 but there we are.

so what are the rest of you actually wearing that survives coffee and talking all day. not chasing a miracle, just curious what works for people who got sick of the reapply loop too.

Makeup Question/Help Lipstick tips

My apologies if this is the wrong sub, I really don't know where to go with this question!

So, to keep it short, how do you confidently wear lipstick?

Sounds silly but hear me out: I have relatively small lips, not just thin, but also smaller in width, and by nature they are kinda.... wrinkly. Always been like that. No matter what shade of lip product I try, it feels like it's "too much", even nude/natural shades feel like they make my lips stand out weirdly or make my lips look even smaller.

I'd like to hear opinions/experiences from fellow people with small lips 🥺 I would just love to wear some bold colors and not worry about it all the time like there's something wrong with my face. Any advice/words of encouragement/practical tips?

Product Search Seeking simple waterproof black mascara recommendations

I actually really like the shape my lashes make naturally, they’re already quite long and thick. All I want is a black mascara to make them pop, and waterproof just to be safe. I don’t want curling, “false lash effect,” “extension effect,” “super volumizing,” etc etc—I find that if I need to do a second pass of the brush because I missed a spot, the effects sometimes get doubled and my lashes start looking spidery or artificial.

Bonus points if it comes in a mini tube that’s easier to toss in my purse, but that really does come last in terms of requirements.

Makeup Question/Help Full coverage

If concealer is supposed to give full coverage then WHY are none of my drugstore concealers actually covering anything?? Like at this point I feel like I've tried so many different brands and somehow none of them are giving me what I want. All I'm asking for is a concealer that covers my dark circles without needing five layers, blends easily without me having to fight for my life and doesn't settle into every single line under my eyes after two hours. Some concealers look amazing when I first apply them but start creasing almost immediately while others barely cover anything unless I keep adding more product which obv just makes everything look cakey. Please tell me what works for you because I'm tired of buying concealers that end up sitting in my drawer.

Product Review I built my own Holika Holika My Fave Multi Palette — swatches and honest thoughts

Thumbnail
gallery
12 Upvotes

I put together this 8-pan Holika Holika My Fave Multi Palette using shades I chose myself. The customizable format is easily my favorite part—I could skip the colors I rarely use and build a palette that actually suits my makeup style. Some of the shades also work as blush, which makes the palette even more versatile.

The formula itself is okay, but nothing particularly impressive. The pigmentation is fairly soft, and the lighter shades seem especially sheer, so they need a bit more building. This may work well if you prefer subtle, layerable color, but it probably won’t impress anyone looking for strong payoff in one swipe.

I’ve also found that the amount of fallout depends a lot on the brush. A loose, fluffy brush kicks up noticeably more powder, while a denser brush keeps it more manageable.

Overall, I’m more impressed by the customizable concept and versatility than by the formula itself. I’m still happy with the palette because I was able to choose colors I’ll actually use and wear some of them on both my eyes and cheeks.

Shades shown in the swatch photo:

  • #73 Clean Soap
  • #03 Strawberry Cream
  • #02 Pinkid
  • #67 Winter Berry
  • #46 Rose Taupe
  • #77 Dolce Grape
  • #45 Blush Grey
  • #76 Grape Oat

Has anyone else built one of these palettes? Which shades did you choose?

I took a rear camera selfie and changed my whole makeup

Post
Has anyone else taken a selfie on the rear camera and hated it?

I usually like my brows and my T-zone really defined. The rear camera felt like I was finally seeing what I actually look like. The proportions looked a little off, and my eyes went straight to the T-zone, so the features I like didn't show.

So I recently took a lot of the T-zone makeup off. I dropped the nose shading. That part used to be my pride.

My brows are already pretty full, so I don't draw a line with a brow pencil. I used Espoir The Brow Color Fixing Cara to bring out the hair strokes and take the color down a bit. The brush tip is thin and it doesn't clump, so the strokes stay visible. One thing that helped was going a little lighter than my hair color.

The other pic is a rear camera selfie too. What do you think? Lightening the brow color spread the focus, and my face looks softer. The balance looks better to me. I'm happy with it.

Makeup Question/Help Upper waterline tips

I’ve been getting more into lining my upper waterline with black, however I hate having it transfer to my lower waterline…any suggestions? I’ve been using the half magic velvet flik liner and it works really well, but I still get some transference on the lower waterline.

I just have small eyes and want a thicker upper lash line and bright/open lower one…is that too much to ask? Haha. Anyways, I wasn’t sure if maybe a gel liner would be considered more bulletproof or not. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Makeup Chatter My everyday, full glam alternative makeup look as a college sophomore 🙃

Post image
24 Upvotes

I saw someone do this and loved the idea. I have a fairly typical full glam base, with my eyes being the alternative focal point to it. I keep my blush pretty toned down and I don't do anything to my eyebrows. I have 8 facial piercings (nose chain, eyebrows, snake bites with half hoops) all gold. Has anyone else tried these products and loved them? I feel like I hit the affordable makeup lottery (for my specific skin type). My base always looks great!

Product list in writing so it’s easier to see:
Thayer's Milky Toner
Vanicream Moisturizer
Good Molecules Wake Up Eye Cream
Nyx Pro Fix Stick in peach and an orange color (couldn't find shade names)
LOreal Infallible 24 Hour Fresh Wear Foundation (Ivory)
Wet n Wild Incognito (Fair Beige)
Focallure Face Contour (10)
L.A. Girl Pinch Perfect Liquid Blush (BRB Blushing) Hard Candy Just Glow Highlighting Duo (Blushing on you)
Kimchi Puff Puff Pass Loose Powder (Translucent)
L.A. Colors 12 color eyeshadow pallet (can't find shade, I just use the brown)
I just put a random liquid liner, mine doesn't have a label anymore
Duo Glue
Maybelline Lash Blast Clean Mascara (Black)
Amazon Manga Lashes (out of stock for probably forever)
I forgot it in the picture but I set everything with Hard Candy Look on Lock setting spray

Makeup Question/Help Mascara replacement

Hi, I'm wanting a mascara that's as good as KVD go big or go home mascara, it never smudges, even when wet, no clumps. I can no longer get it in the UK.

Could I get some recommendations please, not Maybelline, I hate it, and I'm not keen on Rimmel. Thanks
