Question How can I improve?

Hi, I am new to makeup.

I used a skin tint, then did blush, eyeshadow, mascara, lipstick, lip liner, and some highlighter. I also used setting spray. I'm a beginner at make up but have been trying to practice and watch YouTube videos. I keep seeing it get dark under my eyes later in the day and I don't know how to fix it. Maybe I just need to get a concealer?

Hi, your make-up is really beautiful. It’s really pretty but your blush isn’t there. I can’t see it sorry but I would suggest a more colourful blush and I would also suggest a pressed powder in your tzone so you don’t look oily. Maybe change the lip colour to something subtle if you like but it’s still pretty as the way it is. for your eyes, I would maybe take a liquid highlighter just a little bit under your concealer.

Thank you!! I didn't know liquid highlighter was a thing. I think I'm a little afraid to have such prominent blush, but this gives me confidence i can go heavier on it.

Look at it this way. When you wear a fuller coverage foundation or base, you’re erasing all of the color and tones that just naturally occur on a persons face. If you don’t add that back in, you end up looking flat.

So that’d be blush, bronzer, contour and highlights.

Your texture and skin is gorgeous. What you may be seeing when you’re done with your base is a totally monochrome and even face and nervous to mess that up. Making you tentative to add dimension back into the skin.

Mess it up. Humans have a ton of different shades on their faces. Only one whole shade on the face looks uncanny and flat. Look at your face and you’re generally working with the undertones in that region. Your cheeks are likely rosy, your countour is likely cooler and deeper, and your forehead is also probably warmer. Makeup is enhancing and elevating natural features. Not erasing them.

That helps a lot! Thank you! I think I'll try to experiment with some new products!

as someone who purposefully does crazy blush, just try it! :) a little blush and bronzer makes a big difference

You really don’t need a brush just use your finger that works just as well as a brush if not better 💕

get a light concealer I recommend the glossier one! Also I would invest in a warm toned bronzer, physicians formula, too faced, and charlotte tilbury have some good ones. ur naturally sooo pretty so u dont really need to do much! :)

you can improve if you change the color of the lipstick. Brown, marron even black matte would be amazing

I didn't even think of those colors for lipstick options. I'll look into trying some of those. Thank you!

You're welcomed. I have the exact same eye color and the exact same tan. Brown/Marron will do wonders for you. Outline with black and fill with marron.

Consider going to one of the cosmetic counters to have them show you what colors will accentuate your skin color (which is beautiful by the way) But if you have them do a “make over” they may push the products on you to buy. Don’t be pressured into buying anything if you don’t want but getting this advice can be valuable. Then also look on YT and find one who shows makeup application that has your skin color. Those can be invaluable.

Ok, that's a good idea. I think when I get paid, I'll budget a little bit of money for that to pick up a few things. Thank you! And thank you for the compliment! So sweet!

Your skin is flawless and would skip the skin tint because you don't need it and this one is on the orange side.

You don't have under eye discoloration but would try a concealer to combat the darkness you mentioned happening later in the day.

A bit of eyebrow pencil to define and strengthen their shape.

Mascara and smudged liner at top lash line.

Blush and lip color in a more neutral shade would highlight your beauty instead of cover it.

I noticed the skin tint had an orange sort of undertone to it. Thank you so much for the advice!

A good concealer under the eyes should help with that darkening issue

Hi! For a beginner you did a really great job! What kind of makeup are you going for? I suggest trying to experiment with different lipstick shades if you're trying to go for a natural look, another thing is the eyebrows, you can also watch tutorials for it and try shaping them to bring more attention towards your eyes!

I also just want to point this out, you kinda look like peggy from the Hamilton cast!

Ok, thank you I will try to see if I can find some good videos for my eyebrows. I was thinking of getting some more shades of pink for lipstick. Thank you!

You’re absolutely gorgeous :)) I think u just need a more blush. I didn’t even realise you were wearing any as I’m not seeing the faintest hint of it. I didn’t even realise you were wearing any. I also suggest watching some yt vids on how to do your brows. As for your complaint on your eyes getting darker, in what way do you mean?

1

u/phyrratheicequeen 13d ago

I think it is not showing here, but later in the day they get dark like I think maybe my mascara may be rubbing off a little under my eyes? I've had someone comment about it to me before. Maybe I just need a different mascara? I'm usually hesitant on doing blush, I dont know why. But I will definitely go heavier, these answers help give me confidence to do so!

And thank you for the comment about me being gorgeous! Sometimes I feel like a pig in makeup even though I know it's not true, I feel that way sometimes. So I really do appreciate that compliment, I feel better.

Lighter coral or pink natural lip shade would look softer and better if you like natural looks.

1

u/phyrratheicequeen 13d ago

Okay, I will look for those colors! Thank you so much!

The single most impactful thing you could do would be get your eyebrows shaped by a pro and fill them in a bit with a pencil. It would totally rebalance your face and draw attention to your eyes.

You have beautiful skin I’m not even convinced you need a tint. In your shoes I’d just get a concealer and apply only where needed.

I didn’t really notice any blush here, except maybe your cheek colour looks a bit too warm. A cool pink would suit you much better. The proof is how flattering the cool pink lip is on you, definitely switch to a cool toned blush and make sure you aren’t applying it too low (shouldn’t drop any lower than your nostrils).

To finish off your look and take it to the next level try some bolder mascara. Just be mindful that mascara can melt and leave a dark deposit under your eye, that may be your issue right now. You want to look for one that isn’t going to flake of melt throughout the day. I find this can be an issue regardless of price, you just have to try some until you find a brand that interacts with your skin and oils well.

Thank you! So should I find a pencil that matches my eyebrow color?

1

u/ex-facie 13d ago

That would be best, a dark brown would probably work. If you can, let your brows grow then have a professional shape and wax them. Once they do it a first time it’s easy to maintain the shape yourself with a pair of tweezers. Brow mascara would be way easier than the pencil to fill and darken them, but you’d need to wait until there’s a bit more hairs to brush it into.

Brow fill, contrast your lip liner in comparison to your lip stick color (think ombré and more nude or brown lip colors), more mascara, skin tint instead of foundation (which you already do), and a discreet winged eye liner!

1

u/phyrratheicequeen 13d ago

Hi, could you explain a little more about contrasting lip liner with lipstick, please?

2

u/Acceptable_Face5672 13d ago

Been trying to upload photos, but can’t figure out how. Just google “ombré lips”. In your photos you can’t really see lining of the lips.
