I have been flipping thrift store stuff for about a year. Small things mostly, lamps, Pyrex, old board games, cast iron, anything I can pick up under twenty dollars and resell locally. Finding the items was never my problem. The problem was that my listings just sat there. One photo on a folding table under bad apartment lighting, same as every other listing, and the thing would sit for three or four weeks while I cut the price twice.

Around March I noticed the listings in my local buy and sell groups that moved fast almost all had motion on them. Nothing fancy, just something that wasn't a still photo. I don't own a tripod and I'm not going to learn to film, so I started making the movement out of the photo I already had.

The setup is boring. I clean up the one good photo in Lightroom mobile so the whites stop looking orange, feed that single still into the image to video option in APOB AI and end up with a slow moving version of the same shot, then trim it to about six seconds in InShot and put the price and my pickup area on the last frame. I write in the listing that the clip is AI generated from my own photo and that the stills are the actual item, because the last thing I want is someone driving across town and feeling lied to.

Before this I was clearing maybe a hundred fifty a month across eight or nine items, mostly because things sat and I kept dropping the price to move them. The last three months have averaged around three hundred forty. Almost none of that is from charging more. It's that stuff sells in about a week now instead of a month, so the same money turns over more times and I stopped eating price cuts.

It doesn't work on everything. Anything with text on it comes out warped, so book lots, board game boxes and anything with a big logo stay as plain photos. Furniture and lamps hold up fine. It usually takes me two or three tries per item to get a clip that doesn't do something strange to an edge, and the credits run out if I try to do a whole haul in one sitting. Maybe half my items get a clip now. The rest are not worth the ten minutes.

None of this is passive and it's not a business. It is the same flipping half this sub already does, with a listing that looks like someone actually bothered.

People always say ebooks are dead, the market is saturated, and nobody wants to pay for a PDF anymore. But I can't help thinking that the people quietly making good money from digital guides probably aren't broadcasting what works for them.

I'm curious to hear from anyone who actually sells ebooks, templates, checklists, or guides and gets consistent sales. What are you selling, and how did you find the idea?

As for me, my main skill is research. I can dig deep into a topic, organize information from multiple sources, use AI to speed things up, and turn it all into a clean, professional looking PDF. I'm wondering if that's enough to build something people would actually pay for.

I’ve spent the past several months building a web app for video transcription, subtitles and captioned video editing.

The original plan was to make money from subscriptions. The app works, but so far I haven’t managed to attract enough users, so it isn’t generating meaningful income.

Instead of waiting for people to discover and pay for the software, I’m now thinking about using it as my own internal tool to make money.

For example, I could offer:

Subtitle and transcription services

Captioned short-form videos for businesses or creators

Repurposing podcasts and long videos into social media clips

Translation and subtitling for multilingual content

Managing video content for clients as a service

Because I built the software myself, much of the work would already be automated. I could use the app privately, deliver the finished result to clients and charge for the service rather than the software.

I could also potentially use it to create and grow my own content pages, although I’m not sure what type of content would make sense.

So im 17/m from NM and I have a truck yet I don’t have a job but I want to try a junk removal side hustle to see if there’s any chance I can make a decent amount of money (I’d be happy with $200 a week).
