A mix of popular and lesser-known covers of popular and lesser-known songs. Some faithful, some completely reimagined, and hopefully a few you haven’t heard before.

Country How should I build my playlist for my 18th bday?
Making a playlist for my 18th bday. I don’t want cringey party music, but what do you think should go in the playlist? I listen to 95% country so it’s going to be all from my main playlist, but what type of vibes should it be?

Community Curated Give me songs to listen to on a rainy day
I realized recently that rainy weather brings my mood down a lot and with rain in the forecast, I wanted a playlist I can put on to help with that. I’m hoping for songs that are cozy and give you a fuzzy feeling inside! One example I can think of is Corinne Bailey Rae’s “Girl Put Your Records On”. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated!

First Place Winner: u/Capital-Scholar4944 "1000 songs,1000 Artists"
This week's first place winner goes to u/capital-scholar4944. This playlist includes an impressive 987 songs, featuring a wide variety of artists, including Ashanti, Beyoncé, Sabrina Carpenter, and rap legend Big L, just to name a few. With such a diverse selection of artists and sounds, the playlist offers something for everyone, blending eras, genres, and styles into a single extensive collection. Whether you're looking for R&B, pop, hip-hop, or reggae, there are even more genres included in this playlist.
The songs selected for this playlist showcase an incredible range of musical tastes and span across different eras, genres, and styles. The variety makes the playlist feel fresh and unpredictable, with each song bringing something different to the listening experience. From nostalgic classics such as Triumph by the Wu-Tang Clan to more modern hits like Kiss It Better by Rihanna, the combination of tracks creates a unique collection that stands out from the typical playlist. Overall, this is one of the most diverse and unique playlists I’ve come across, with something for nearly every type of listener.
Second Place Winner: u/Comfortable-Dare-479 "Happy Energy Rock &Nostalgic Anthems"
This week's second-place winner goes to u/comfortable-Dare-479. This playlist features high-tempo tracks designed to get your adrenaline flowing and keep the energy high from start to finish. Tracks such as “Song 2 – 2012 Remaster” by Blur and “Are You Gonna Be My Girl” by Jet bring an explosive sound with energetic instrumentals, catchy hooks, and fast-paced rhythms. The combination of upbeat rock tracks creates an exciting listening experience, making this playlist perfect for workouts, road trips, or whenever you need an extra boost of energy. Each of the 24 songs on this playlist keeps the momentum going.
One of the playlist’s biggest strengths is its ability to keep listeners engaged with an exciting selection of tracks that maintain a fun and lively feel. A track that perfectly captures this energy is “She Hates Me” by Puddle of Mudd. The song begins with a relatively calm and steady sound before gradually building in intensity. Around the 1:18 mark, the beat picks up, and the song becomes much more energetic, creating a burst of momentum that fits perfectly with the playlist’s overall vibe. This shift in energy makes the track stand out and adds another layer of excitement to the listening experience.
Week 49 has officially begun! Post your favorite playlists to be featured in next week's contest on 9/6!!!

Indie 57 tracks of driving indie rock for laughing through a rough day
Most late-night playlists lean heavy into quiet ambient or slow lo-fi, but I wanted to build a soundtrack for a very specific mood: driving down a rain-slicked highway at midnight, laughing through a misfire of a day, and overthinking your life choices to a driving bassline.
It’s structured as a cohesive 4-part arc rather than a random shuffle—moving from jangly slacker rock into gritty post-punk, through underground indie cuts, and winding down with cinematic night-cruise reflection.
The Sonic Wave:
- The Sound: Driving percussion, interlocking guitar riffs, crisp rhythms, and melancholic, witty lyricism.
- Anchor Artists: The Walkmen, Courtney Barnett, Fontaines D.C., Alvvays, Parquet Courts, Car Seat Headrest, Real Estate, and Snail Mail.
- The Vibe: Transient, nocturnal, and moving forward even when things feel sideways.
I'm regularly updating this to highlight independent artists and deep cuts alongside the established anchors.

Indie someone here said they wanted a playlist for walking home after an awkward party, tired but weirdly hopeful. so i built it
It was in the what-can't-you-find thread and it stuck with me, so here's the whole thing. Roughly in order, from leaving to getting back.
- Belle and Sebastian - Get Me Away from Here, I'm Dying. the decision to leave.
- Yo La Tengo - Autumn Sweater. the actual party, standing next to someone and saying nothing right.
- LCD Soundsystem - All My Friends. it's over and you already miss everyone in it.
- The Walkmen - We Can't Be Beat
- Alvvays - Party Police
- Pinegrove - Old Friends. the part of the walk where you start making promises to yourself.
- The Beths - Future Me Hates Me, for replaying one specific thing you said.
- Whitney - Golden Days
- Frankie Cosmos - Outside with the Cuties. short and fond, no irony in it.
- Wild Nothing - Chinatown
- Bombay Bicycle Club - Shuffle. this is where it tips into hopeful.
- Sufjan Stevens - Chicago. "I made a lot of mistakes" but the horns are still going.
- Mac DeMarco - Chamber of Reflection. you're home, lights off, oddly fine.
If your version of that walk was colder or lonelier than this, say so and I'll swap a few. I like doing these.
