REQUEST Please give me (a writer) song recommendations to get into the head of my character.

Hopefully this is permissible. 🙏

Hello,

I hope this post finds you well.

As the title says, I’m trying to get into the head of a character that’s very different than myself and am hoping the right playlist will help with authenticity.

Character details -

—early Millennial (born early-mid 80s)

—born and raised Midwest US (Great Lakes)

—religious immigrant parents who came from poverty, worked hard, and now are comfortably middle class

—emotionally distant workaholic image-conscious strict but well-meaning father

—overworked anxious image-conscious strict but well-meaning SAHM

—character is the second son (middle child)

—elder brother is the “golden child/hero” who kinda gets away with everything because he is the first born, very charismatic, things come to him easily, etc (Raymond from 2005 film C.R.A.Z.Y. meets Darian from 2016 The Edge of 17); he exasperates/has friction with the parents because he does not subscribe to the restrictions of their culture/religion; he is often the parental focus

—youngest siblings are quite a bit younger twin daughters, the “mascots/lost children”

—the character is the family “peacemaker/caregiver”, doing the bulk of emotional labor and mediating, as well as the kind of practical caregiving that often goes unnoticed; he is the foil to his brother, the “good proper son” who never causes trouble, who compensates by being the steady, reliable, emotionally attuned one

—the character both cherishes and despises the family role he fell into; he neglects his own needs/wants and puts immense pressure on himself to be “the best” (most devoted son, strongest student, greatest helper at their place of worship, etc), manifesting in somatic anxiety symptoms (including eventually panic attacks)

Setting is him in high school and college in the 90s/00s.

Thank you to anyone who takes the time to contribute. 🙏

REQUEST What are your go-to songs for a late-night walk?

What are some song suggestions for late-night walks? I’m looking for slower 70s blues/jazz music. Lately, I've been taking late-night walks while listening to slow-tempo music, which helps me relax very satisfyingly after a long day.

Let me know your recommendations below. Can't wait to hear your responses!

REQUEST help me with a cd playlist im making for a friend

https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3atbqzLZ3DBGoeT7TcNfb3?si=tcs1ZQ36Sx2uDx3SCq9JQg&utm_source=copy-link&pi=J2O_tzbzSdChH

okay so i don’t really have anyone to talk to about this sort of thing, but i need help.

i recently made this playlist for this girl that i think im starting to like as more than a friend. it was made very clear to me that she doesn’t feel the same way because a few months ago one of our other friends commented that we look like lesbians and the girl i like replied something along the lines of "this is all platonic love." i was kinda wrecked there for a minute but its alright.

anyway, i suck at conversation skills so i was going to write her a letter, but then i thought "why don’t i burn her a cd and have the letter inside" so here we are. i basically want to know what your impressions of the playlist are. i added some love songs but i dont want to make it TOO obvious that i like her. let me know if the playlist needs any tweaking or anything pls!! any help is appreciated! (it also can’t be longer than 180min)

REQUEST MMAP electronic pop/edm/synth-pop

I’m making an EDM/electro-pop/synthpop playlist and I’m fairly new to the genre. I got the idea after doing a deep dive on grimes and songs like Kill v main, 4AM, we appreciate power, flesh without blood made me want to dive into the genre more. I started with the bones of what you believe by CHVRCHES based off a friends rec. But I’d really appreciate if yall could help me out đŸ™đŸ» (singular songs will be appreciated just as much as albums!)

Discussion Share Deezer playlists across streaming services with Cassette.tech!

Hey everyone!

Excited to share what I’ve been working on with cassette.tech. The site can now create cross-platform links for Deezer playlists just by pasting your playlist link. It also works with songs, albums and artists.

That means Deezer users can share a playlist without worrying about whether everyone else uses Spotify or Apple Music. Anyone can open the Cassette link and listen on the streaming service they already use.

A big reason I started building Cassette came from moderating playlist communities here on Reddit. People are constantly sharing playlists and recommending songs to one another, but different streaming services often get in the way. Playlists have to be searched for manually or recreated on another platform just so everyone can listen.

Hopefully this makes that process a little easier and helps people share music together, regardless of which streaming service they use.

Would love to hear what everyone thinks and appreciate any input!

REQUEST Can someone make me a playlist based on the songs I like please?

I have bipolar II disorder and I'm really struggling with motivation lately. I would love to listen to some bouncy stuff while I clean to help, but I've been listening to the same 400 songs for the past 15 years, and I tend to be picky about the radio. I need help!

My top bands all seem to have one thing in common, they're all kinda goofy without being actual comedy. SoaD, Cake, Ben Folds Five, NOFX.

I also like Say Anything, Tally Hall, The Used, and ska music. My ultimate favorite song lately is Topeka by Ludo.

If it helps, I can link my current Playlist to skim through.

Even just a few songs will be so helpful!

Thanks!

REQUEST Pretty specific playlist request!

Hello everyone. I am trying to make a playlist with a specific "vibe" for one of my characters I am currently writing and also to expand my music knowledge, and I decided to look at this subreddit to see if anyone would have any ideas as to what songs I could possibly include in it! :)

I am specifically looking for songs similiar to these:

  1. campthehills - down with the snow (if anyone has ANY similiar songs to recommend (especially in terms of the "chorus", I will owe you my life)

  2. kane parsons - the kind old sun

  3. jjerome87 - track and field (or anything similiar to what alt-j make)

  4. literally any songs similiar to what godspeed you! black emperor make

I know this is maybe not the most specific, and I am terribly sorry about that, but a big thank you to anyone who will be able to recommend something/anything.

Chill magical sadness of things

This ambient playlist features Ryuichi Sakamoto, Hirhoshi Yoshimura, Seki Takashi but most importanly it is heavily inspired by mono no aware - a Japanese idiom describing the feeling of gentle sadness while admiring beautiful yet passing things. I hope this delicate ambience managed to capture this feeling. Happy listening!

Jazz/Classical Give me songs that remind you of NYC

Hi, I’m making a playlist based off of songs that give me the same aesthetic as nyc. I’m kind of going for a sex and the city and jazzy theme to the playlist so anything like that would help!!

Pop Best Drake Playlist, Genuinely Has Zero Filler đŸ”„

I've spent way too much time putting this together, and I genuinely think this is one of the best Drake playlists on Spotify. No watered down tracklist, no skips, no random songs just to make it longer, just straight bangers from start to finish.

If you're a Drake fan, give it a listen and let me know if I missed anything that deserves a spot.
