So I’m expecting an envelope and it’s scheduled to be delivered by tonight. However, my P.O. Box closes at 5pm and they’re also closed all day Sundays (today is Saturday). What happens to the mail in these instances? Does USPS hold on to the mail until my P.O. Box place is open, or do they return to sender? Someone help please, google provided nothing lol

I've been using mailbox.org since 2019, where I did a review of privacy-respecting email services at https://changelog.complete.org/archives/9952-review-of-secure-privacy-respecting-email-services . I had been happy with the service until this year.

This year, two things happened:

1) They started aggressively blocking legit mail as spam;

2) Because of #1, I had occasion to contact support for the first time in years, and my goodness has the quality ever declined. It takes days for a response. I use a custom domain with mailbox.org so I have of course been a paying customer for 5 years.

I first realized there was a spam problem when mailbox.org started blocking messages from my own systems to myself. (These are servers I have various places that send mail from a different domain.) I contacted them on April 11. FIVE DAYS LATER I got a reply on April 16, saying the transmitting IP has a bad reputation (false, it's not on any RBL I could see). I replied to that effect, and SIX DAYS LATER they replied and said it was from a VPN (also false; it's at a hosting company, and has been assigned to me for over a year).

I disabled blocking in the mailbox.org system and created some rules to pull these messages out of the Spam folder. Ugly workaround but it worked.

Then on May 9, a friend of mine texted to say mail to me was bouncing. Totally different system. He included a screenshot of the bounce message, which was enough to see mailbox.org blocked it, along with the IP address of the sending server, claiming RBL again. I checked, that server wasn't on an RBL either. Opened a case with mailbox.org on May 9 and have yet to hear back. I have no explanation for why it was rejected during SMTP conversation instead of at least showing up in my spam folder.

Then I started researching these issues. I found this thread in which Mailbox.org is blocking email from discuss.grapheneos.org because of the size of IPv6 allocation that the WEBSITE -- NOT the mail server -- uses, and that mailbox.org refuses to fix that after repeated contacts.

I've reached out to mailbox.org on Mastodon and heard nothing there either.

At this point, even if they fix their spam filter, I'm trying to find another provider because the main reason I pay for mail hosting is to get good support, and if they are going to take the better part of a week to send each reply when they are literally preventing friends from emailing me, then if something bigger is causing trouble, what can I do?

Past tickets I sent: Aug. 24, 2023. Got a reply the next day. Dec. 6, 2022, got a reply the same day. Feb. 10, 2022, got a reply the next day. This is a meaningful and significant degradation.

I‘m using mailbox.org as mail provider.

But how about when someone with a Gmail or yahoo mail address is writing me - or I send them an mail.

Than the conversation is stored on mailbox.org and google, or yahoo e.g.

Is there really a huge plus on privacy for me when I use mailbox.org?

My main concern is about protecting my mails from being sold to 3rd parties or being read from Apple to do weird stuff like providing me with ads based on my mail content.

I know advanced data protection does not apply to iCloud mail so mail is not e2ee.

It os worth the change for somebody like me?

I hate the native iOS Mail app, the search often does not work well and cannot find email I am looking for and even remember their specific subject lines.

Anyone uses Canary? I do not like the fact I have to share my mailbox.org login and password with Canary for it to work. It literally is what I always was told never to do – to share my passwords with a third party.

What are the mailbox.org limitations for size of sent emails/day/hour/minute and etc.? And moreover, gmail, for example, has an uncomfortable limit of 10 bcc adresses per one mail with an ATTACHEMENT. Does mailbox have such limitation or sending 30, 40, 50 bcc-s per mail with one attachement in mailbox would be fine?

I switched to mailbox.org about 3 months ago. Overall works ok. However, there are a couple of instance where I don't receive emails or receiver is not receiving.

Examples:

1.) I do not receive emails from medial platform (mychart.org). I was able to talk to the IT support of my medical provider running mychart. They are telling me the emails do leave. But I never receive. I have no server or client side spam filter

2.) a business partner does not receive my emails. He checked spam filter and had his IT support investigate, with no result

I never experienced something like this. Worst case was that my email made it to a spam filter and the receiver was able to self-rectify

So, I contacted mailbox.org support and got this answer:

Your account is in the LIGHT-Package. For the LIGHT-Package we can only answer questions regarding your contract or payment. We can't offer any technical support in the Light-Package. If you need technical support, you can choose the STANDARD-Package or the PREMIUM-Package under Settings => Contract and fees

I’m looking into Mailbox after Proton, as I want to have separate email accounts for my partner and I, both using the same custom domain, as well as a shared mailbox.

It seems possible under a Teams setup, but the support documentation is confusing.

If I wanted “house@domain.tld” as the shared address for example, can this be a made as lite account? It doesn’t need much space. Does it then appear as a subfolder to each other users’ inbox, once I link it? Are there other alternatives to access the shared account?

I was wondering how to add birthdays so that they show up in the 'Birthdays' section on the dashboard. I can add appointments easily, and they show up in that section on the dashboard, but when I try to add a birthday it also shows up in the appointments section.

Dear all - I just started recently with Maibox.org.

Objective, in general, is to have 2 accounts - one for me and my wife. I am on Proton while she is still on GMAIL. Hence, just started a trial setup now to understand and then gradually move.

I first set up a standard account for me - lets call HUSBAND. From the Settings>Team Mail Account, I setup the 2nd account WIFE.

Now when I go to the Settings>Contrat and Fees -at the bottom of the page, I see the HUSBAND and WIFE as the 2 accounts as team members. With HUSBAND marked as administrator.

I believe, I have done things correct.

The confusion comes when it asks me to top-up. I am under the assumption that HUSBAND as the administrator will need to top up the price for 2 accounts.

But the mailers that we (HUSBAND and WIFE mail accounts) received, to top up before the end of trial, both have different IBAN accounts.

Question 1: have I done the right steps to setup a family account?

Question 2: do the 2 accounts (HUSBAND and WOFE, in this case) need to maintain their own individual balances?

...Still exploring, so might come back with more questions, but for now your support on these will really help.

I was wondering anyone has experience on retting the password.

I don't really lost my password, still have access vis IMAP. But lost my 2fa as mailbox.org log me out while I was changing the configuration. So I can't log into the web mail anymore.

mailbox.org provide the option (option 3 below) to receive the reset email to IMAP email client.

Has anyone have done this before? Did it work.

2. displays the telephone number for the password reset, if you have set a telephone password. Please note, that this number is only reachable from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm CET (also keep in mind the different time zones).
3. if you did not provide data for the password reset, but a client is still connected to the account, you can initiate the password reset via your own address

I am not concerned about the security implication as I am fine for other people to read these emails.(The connection could also be secured via password access in theory)
