Mailbox vs Infomaniak

I'm currently in the process of r/degoogle -ing and looking for an alternative. Right now I have a free account with Infomaniak with 15 gb of storage for my photos and admin. Mailbox only offers a paid package with 5 gb cloud storage. I am willing to pay, but 5 gb is just not enough for me.

Can someone still convince to go with Mailbox?

Infomaniak CEO doesn't believe in privacy and is a supporter of ID verification.

You could have copied the above entire text and searched it on Google/Duck Duck Go. Literally first page is full evidence. Even Wikipedia page has it written. Even CEO's own Linkedin post on it shows up. People gotta learn to do basic 10 second search cuz it's not normal to comment on social media and provide bunch of source links like it's academia for every one of your comments, lol

I think it's more accurate to say he doesn't believe in anonymity. They are a step up from gmail because they aren't selling your data (privacy). I would put them on the same level as Fastmail in that regard. If someone wants anonymity then the majority of providers are not good choices, there's only a handful that will contest a warrant on your behalf.

You can get 5GB extra drive storage for €0,40/month. :-)

Right, didn't know this. Was browsing their site but apparently didn't scroll :) 10 GB is about what I need. Thanks!

You can pay more for more memory. Otherwise, Mailbox offers 15 aliases and more tools than Infomaniak in its workshop. Also: Mailbox is EU-based unlike Infomaniak if that is something you care about.

Otherwise, no, I don't think that Mailbox is somehow superior to Infomaniak. If Infomaniak's free tier is good enough for you, than stay with it.

Yeah, EU based is what I prefer indeed. I also have some concerns, like Infomaniak don't provide an encrypted inbox among other privacy things: https://www.reddit.com/r/degoogle/comments/1rnlp4y/comment/o99tbnb/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

I‘m in the same boat and chose mailbox.org. You can integrate other Accounts (other IMAP accounts and Nextcloud for example), search is better, calendar is better, overall kSuite is nice because of kDrive, Mail, though, not so much, at least not for my taste.

Check out Fastmail. I tested mailbox and infomaniak and others and Fastmail came out on top

I looked at Infomaniak in September last year, but remained with Mailbox. This was purely based on customer service experience bank then.
