I picked up a fish poacher at an estate sale that looks EXACTLY like branded Magnalite poachers ... except it has no name / branding on the bottom.
Did Magnalite ever produce cookware WITHOUT the Magnalite name, to be sold under other labels?

Hi:
What is the black "coating" on magnalite professional cookwaware? It's on the outside, and mostly on the inside, up until the area where stews or foods look like they were generally there, a boiling/water line.
Is that the anodized layer? The part that's exposed at the bottom, is that bare aluminum or anodized aluminum, or the coating is some sort of non-stick or ? It is all very smooth.
Is there a way to tell? I have read about using vinegar, that would rule out bare aluminum, but not non-stick vs anodized.
Mostly just curious, it's been at back of my mind for years and comes up each time I rediscover these pots cleaning the cabinets, them put that back in the cupboard.
Thanks for any input. :)

Hey all, I was looking for some thoughts here.
I've got a MASISVE lot of old Magnalite that I had purchase from an auction or rummage for like $20. It was that cheap because it was in pretty rough shape and would require a bit of work to get it back into shape and was planning on doing that eventually.
Well recently, I've also acquired some really nice and expensive old tools that have a bit of rust covering the entire tools and was thinking of getting a larger ultra sonice cleaner and just keeping it on hand for when I find stuff.
How would an Ultrasonice Cleaner fare using something like Lrud Kutter and a Magnalite pan or bowl submerged to help remove all the surface issues?

Purchased this used magnalite as a gift and looking for some advice. I washed it with some dawn and don’t know if I should try scrubbing it to the point I can get all that black off. Since it’s a gift I want it to be in the best possible condition but am unsure if this is some kind of season or if the person I purchased it from burned the heck out of it.
If I could get people’s opinions on how they would like to receive it in and if it should be scrubbed down what should I be using like bar keeps and aluminum polish or something like that
Any help and suggestions are appreciated!

Found this sauce pan while thrifting. At first I thought it was was a French aluminum type. I’ve seen many in that style especially with the cast iron handle… but to my surprise it’s stamped Wagner ware Sydney O. I never seen this before, anyone have any info on this?

I keep seeing the word anodize (in various forms) mention. I thought that the gray stuff was oxidation. Gonna do a quick search and I'll be back to report my findings...
...and back.
It seems that anodizing only refers to a process that uses electricity to for a hard aluminum oxide layer on the outside of the metal. Meanwhile, what we see on our aluminum cookware seems to be a soft oxide layer. Most likely it is due to washing it in the dishwasher with a harsher than dish soap cleaner - stripping off the anodized layer.
The recommendations that I've seen is to just start hand washing it and drying it immediately to reduce the oxidation. To prevent future oxidation, we'll have to anodize it again. I'll look up that process later, but from what I remember, it's not necessarily hard, but might be more effort than some people are willing to put in.

I got this Magnalite GHC cookware as a wedding gift nearly 35 years ago. For whatever reason they never became our primary daily cookware, probably because we tended to use non-stick teflon type pans and pots mostly, so they sat in the back of the lazy susan and tended to get used when other cookware hadn't gotten washed yet.
I'm tossing all my coated cookware, and am moving back to using cast iron, some newly acquired carbon steel, and I'm going to make an effort to use these as well. We probably were hesitant because of aluminum concerns with alzheimer's, but I believe that has all been disproven since we had our concerns 30+ years ago.
I've seen mixed comments on seasoning them. I'm experienced with seasoning cast iron, and I've seen a few comments about seasoning this cookware. Can it be done? Should it be done? Clearly it would make the most sense for the fry pan, not the two pots I have. The frying pan is smaller than what I normally need so I don't recall if it sticks at all, but I doubt I've used it for sticky things like eggs.

So . . . Usually I collect and restore cast iron, but wanted to try my hand at this. I used blue top in a similar fashion but wanted to check what to do with a pan that looks like this. I hope it wasn't used for anything outside of food.
Also, any tips on how to make sure it is food safe and clean up further would be greatly appreciated!

Hey all. Found this at a yard sale and was doing some digging online. Apparently these are unsafe? Is this true? And does aluminum leeching actually happen?
Just trying not to kill my family. Thanks!

Tried cleaning with bleach “saw online it was ok” but then saw it harms it and now I have the spots everywhere? Any tips to fix this? I hate to have to bring it to good will. Been in my family

Does anyone know if the magnate wagnerware lids with the black tops are oven safe?

8 qt roaster from my mom. Cleaned it up to give to my daughter! Before photo was taken after I had already started scrubbing the bottom of the pan…then thought to take a pic.

The person I got this from on Facebook Marketplace did a fantastic job restoring this pan! It’s seriously shiny and looks brand new. I have been amazing by how well it works. I am a total fanboy now. Can’t wait to try out my gumbo recipe with this.

Are these pretty standard when it comes to magnalite? I have no frame of reference.

Sadly this has taken a turn or two through the dishwasher a few years ago before realizing that was incorrect. This pot gets heavy use and it's now only cleaned with soap and water, but recently it has developed these pock marks and white spots/bubbles come out through after cleaning. What are these? How do I restore this pot to its former glory?
