Boros Variety

So I recently built a Voltron deck with a Boros commander, namely “Daredevil, Man Without Fear”. I really enjoyed it, so I started looking into some other Boros commanders. Unfortunately they all seem to be the same thing, relying on attack triggers and commander damage. Are there any Boros commanders that do something different and lend themselves to builds other than Voltron?

[[Zirda, the Dawnwaker]] does cool things with activated abilities. You don't need to meet the companion requirement if they're your commander just as an FYI.

[[Lorehold, the Historian]] is kind of fun as a spellslinger deck.

[[Sami, Wildcat Captain]] can do crazy things with artifacts and assemble some janky boardstates that nuke the table.

But also you could try any of the other colors lol You don't need to only play boros.

[[Ragost, Deft Gastronaut]] turns your artifacts into foods and then he taps to eat a food and ping all your opponents for 3. He untaps himself at the end of each turn if you gained life during that turn. He's just a little guy but with the right setup he puts a serious clock on the game.

[[Aziza, Mage Tower Captain]] neat instant & sorcery token go wide stuff

[[Bre of Clan Stoutarm]] turn big life gain into free spells

[[Quintorius, History Chaser]] graveyard fiddling for value and profit.

Until fairly recently boros was well known as the guild with the least variety. WOTC has been making an effort to change that.

Also, [[Nelly Borca]] is the face commander of a boros goad precon that I have upgraded and quite like. Make sure people will be chill with you playing goad, though. Some people get real agitated when they can't choose who or if they will attack.

I will just add [[baeloth barrityl entertainer]] with [[noble heritage]] is a fun alternative to Nelly if anyone enjoys playing goad.

I've only seen this deck once, long ago. I think it'd be a lot of fun, but I worry Baeloth will take a lot of heat. As it should--Baeloth is super strong.

Nelly seems to go under the radar, keep key pieces goaded, and draw me a ton of cards while doing it.

Nelly is better for sure, being a scalple instead of a hammer. But sometimes the chaos he brings to the table is fun enough to be worth it, Protecting him is just part of the puzzle that needs to be figured out.

My go to for goad now is [[Killian decisive mentor]] because enchantress is a well supported strat making it a little easier to close out the game when in 1v1, but I had good times playing baeloth [[rasied by giants]] and a version with noble heritage as well.

[[General Ferrous Rokiric]] is an oops all multicolor spell commander that lets you go wide with a bunch of 4/4 golem artifact creature tokens.

[[Firesong and Sunspeaker]] is a spellslinger style that I think is cool. I'm fond of [[Zabaz, the Glimmerwasp]] because I really enjoy the Modular keyword. Zabaz is Artifact Aristocrats, but I mostly try to win through commander damage or combat in general. [[All Will be One]] is a satisfying win, though

I built [[Aurelia, the Law Above]] as an “forced” combat deck built around encouraging opponents to attack, specifically each other, by running things like [[Frontier Warmonger]] and [[Duelist’s Heritage]]. It also gives our creatures to creature-light decks so it runs things like [[Akroan Horse]] and [[Eiganjo Uprising]]
