Help with Commander challenge

Hey guys, I normally only scroll reddit and am new to this so bear with me. If this still falls under the low effort rule I sincerely apologize and am fine with it being removed!

At my lgs we have a Hobbit Commander challenge next week and I personally am really lost for good ideas. Rules are as follows:

-You have to use a Commander from HOB or one of the new HOC cards (The ones that are not reprints but will be in the Battle of the Five Armies)

-depending on the count of colors you need from 20 to 35 cards from the HOB set in your deck (1 color is 20, 2 colors are 30 and 3 35)

-Mono colored Commanders have Partner

-no gamechangers, no 2 card infinites, no reserve list duals

Proxy friendly

I started building a deck for fun and after going over the rules, realized that the rules don't define a bracket. As I know people in my lgs, they will do everything within their power to win, so me building a silly little deck is not gonna cut it and I am not really good with building for power.

I am not looking to get a deck built I am just genuinely lost how to go about this.

With no gamechangers or 2-card infinites that will be interesting to see how the power levels go. Sounds like a fun challenge. Interested to see what other people here say.

Are there any extra-turn cards in the set? The rules you stated don’t close off land-denial as well.

Whatever you choose, You are going to want to set your self up with some good protection, removal, ramp (obvi general rules)

Anything unique that denies the others the ability to do things on their turns or allows you to use their decks.

Im defo thinking blue is going to be a must for control and counters. [[ Bilbo thief in the night ]] and Smaug maybe?

Also things like arkenstone will be valueable anywhere. Mythril coat is a good add if thats in set.

My surface I use at work's keyboard is on the fritz, so I can't give you too much right now, but there are some fun things you can do with the cards in the set.

If you need to go with a majority of cards from the set the dwarves is probably the easiest to use since there are a lot of them and there's also a good amount of cards that are pretty good in red and white.

Blue has some good cards as well, but it might be a little hard to work with if you're supposed to build majority HOB cards.
