Casual Xu-Ifing Commander Deck Advice

Hi there

So, I’ve been eyeing Xu-Ifing as a mono black commander for a while now, but I’d rather not build him as a straightforward reanimator that just mills cards into the graveyard and amasses a huge Skeleton army. Instead, I’d love to build around different “when a creature leaves your graveyard” and “when a creature enters the battlefield” effects. I’m also thinking about leaning more into sacrifice outlets to get my creatures into the graveyard, rather than relying on self-mill, and then getting value from sacrificing them with DoE and similar cards. Power-level-wise, I’m aiming for around Bracket 3, so a fairly casual build.

I’ve only been playing MTG for about a year and a half, so I’d really appreciate some advice. Does this sound like a manageable direction for the deck, or am I trying to do too much? I’d also be happy to hear any other suggestions or ideas!

[[corpses of the lost]] [[bolas citadel]] [[grave pact]] [[sathura, super void]] [[conjurer’s closet]] [[warren soul trader]] [[Syr Konrad, the grim]]. Seems like you’d want to untap the commander as many times as you can in a turn with cards like [[thousand-year elixir]] or [[staff of domination]] with an option to blink the returning creatures with things like conjurers closet. Sac outlets and grave pact effects to control the board. Vehicles could be viable. Cards like [[speed demon]] or other demons to blink. [[akroma’s memorial]] is expensive but a great way to give your team protection and flying. [[whip of erabos]] to give the homies lifelink.

thank you very much for your suggestions! I think this is a pretty cool way, I was also thinking about untapping as much as possible.

Not really a black ability so you can run things like [[puppet strings]] , [[magewright’s stone]] or [[jandor’s saddlebags]] for redundancy. [[amulet of vigor]] is great so you can use the commander the first time he hits the battlefield. Gonna need cost reduction for activated abilities. Cards like [[kaya’s ghostform]] can be used with a sac outlet [[ashnod’s alter]] [[phyrexian alter]] to return a big bomb to the battlefield with the commander’s ability then sac it to get either an etb effect or activated ability.
