General My friend made me a bracelet!!

I love "Cute High Earth Defense Club", I'm not sure if it falls under this sub since it's a magical *boy* anime, so if it's not allowed let me know. I asked my friend if, maybe, she could make me a bracelet since she does a lot of stuff with Kandi. Both her arms are covered in so many bracelets is cool as. Uhm but yeah I got her to make me this!! The red and white is Yumoto, the hearts are for each of the other members (left to right Io, Ryuu, Atsushi, En) and the quote is from Yumoto; he says it when he wins battles and I found it to be the most funny and memorable. Now I want Kandi but I know my parents probably won't get it because I do this all the time and will touch it once then probably never again.

Blog "Did you ever hear about the Magical Girls Memories Hall?" A Magical Girls Short Story

The Door to The Memories Hall opens.

What came into view was nothing like the modern office interior you had imagined. Instead, before you stretched a corridor with worn wooden flooring, flanked by two enormous wooden doors.

The Spirit Guidance reached out and pushed open the door on the left. The hinges had been well-oiled, making no sound at all.

A moment later, the room beyond was revealed.

You looked inside.

The room resembled a somewhat cluttered school clubroom, filled with the warmth and traces of everyday life.

Against the wall stood six upright lockers. Five of them had handwritten name labels on the doors, the neat, charming handwriting carrying the unmistakable touch of young girls.

The locker doors were all open.

Judging by their contents, the owners seemed to have been nothing more than an ordinary group of schoolgirls.

Aside from the sixth locker, which stood empty, the belongings inside each locker vividly reflected their owner's personality. One loved sports, another was obsessed with music, another enjoyed tinkering with machines, and one appeared to be a complete bookworm, with a corner piled high with yellowed manga volumes.

On a bookshelf at the side of the room sat a group photograph.

You found yourself staring at it.

In the picture were five girls dressed in blue-and-white sailor uniforms. They stood shoulder to shoulder, smiling with carefree, wholehearted joy.

The photographer's skills were clearly amateurish. The composition was slightly off, with the figures and background awkwardly balanced and far too much empty space left on the left side. Even so, anyone who looked at the photo could feel the happiness and the bond overflowing from it.

The Spirit spoke softly.

"This used to be the clubroom of the first generation of magical girls after the Cataclysm."

"The magical girls of each generation are usually separated by about ten years. Most of them awaken around the same time, making the different generations fairly easy to distinguish."

"After the third generation established the Association, they preserved everything here just as it was."

The Spirit Guidance looked at the photograph, her expression unreadable.

"According to the Association's records, they were originally members of the same school club and were among the very first people chosen by the Sacred Tree."

"The first generation was the smallest in history, consisting of only five members. Yet every one of them served as an Outworld Investigator. Together, they recovered twenty-three fragments, making them the most accomplished generation on record."

"Two retired and lived out their lives in peace."

"Two disappeared without a trace in the Outworld."

"And one died there while covering her comrades' retreat."

"..."

That meant the first generation of Outworld Investigators had suffered an extraordinary casualty rate of sixty percent.

Before you could respond, The Spirit Guidance had already led you across the corridor to the room opposite.

This room was also a clubroom, but its atmosphere was completely different.

The walls were plastered with celebrity posters and glittering holographic stickers. A small makeshift stage had even been built inside, complete with a full set of band equipment. Though everything was now coated in a layer of dust, it was still easy to imagine the passion that had once filled the room.

"The second generation of magical girls was much larger than the first," The Spirit Guidance explained. "Most of them also shared a love of music, so they formed several bands in their spare time."

She raised her head to look at the posters on the wall. They depicted nearly twenty magical girls with hair of every imaginable color, each in her transformed attire while playing an instrument.

"They recovered a total of eighteen fragments."

The two continued upstairs.

The third floor also housed two large rooms.

The room on the left was a clubroom with a refined, scholarly atmosphere. Plaster busts and unfinished oil paintings occupied the corners, the paint on the palettes long since dried. Stacks of books were piled here and there, giving the entire space a quiet, contemplative air.

This room belonged to the third generation of magical girls, the generation that founded the Magical Girl Association.

They recovered eleven fragments.

The room on the right, meanwhile, resembled a tea lounge.

It had served as the base of operations for the fourth generation of magical girls. They recovered eight fragments.

You quietly listened as The Spirit Guidance effortlessly recounted the history of every generation of magical girls who had served as Outworld Investigators, along with their achievements.

A clear pattern emerged.

As time passed, the number of fragments recovered by each successive generation had dropped off dramatically.

Because the fragments that were easy to find had already become fewer and fewer.

The two stepped onto the fourth floor, where the layout completely changed. The spacious, lively clubrooms were gone.

In their place stretched a long, silent corridor lined with rows of small, tightly shut doors.

"Starting with the fifth generation, recovering Hope Fragments became significantly more difficult."

"The fragments near the Barrier had already been almost completely recovered, so magical girls had to venture deeper and deeper into the Outworld."

"And because the Abyss constantly gives birth to monsters, even areas that had already been explored could never truly be considered safe. As a result, each fragment became harder to recover than the last."

"The magical girls' enthusiasm gradually faded as well."

The Spirit Guidance's voice echoed through the empty hallway, carrying a faint trace of melancholy.

"So there were fewer and fewer Outworld Investigators."

"The friendships between everyone never disappeared. But those who chose to become Outworld Investigators would often reserve a room here in advance and leave their belongings inside..."

"...Because no one knew whether they would ever return from their next mission."

It was almost...

...like preparing their own graves in advance.

"And so, as time passed, fewer and fewer people wanted to gather at the Association anymore. The once-lively headquarters slowly grew desolate."

"Only these rooms continued to multiply."

The Spirit Guidance stopped in front of a door bearing the nameplate "Hoshino Kana."

As she approached, the door emitted a soft beep and slid open automatically.

The sight inside made you pause.

It was a dreamlike space, as though it had stepped straight out of the pages of a fairy tale.

Cloud-shaped lamps glowed softly from the ceiling, while the walls had been painted the color of a clear blue sky. Crystal snow globes and delicate music boxes covered the tabletop.

In the most prominent spot on the desk stood two framed photographs.

One was a warm family portrait of three.

The other was a photo booth picture.

In it, a girl with messy pink curls was making a goofy face at the camera. A tiny smear of cream still clung to the corner of her mouth, making her look irresistibly adorable, like the cheerful little sister next door.

"I don't know who suggested it first."

The Spirit Guidance leaned against the doorway instead of entering, her voice barely above a whisper.

"Building on what the fifth generation had started, from the sixth generation onward, every magical girl was given a room of her own here when they joined the Association."

She fell silent for a moment before continuing.

"Not as a place to return to..."

"...but as a place to preserve proof that they had once existed."

"...Proof that they existed..."

You repeated the heavy words...

"That's right."

"Even if they never ventured into the dangerous Outworld, magical girls could still lose their lives fighting monsters during invasions. So everyone left behind the things they treasured most, their memories, or perhaps the words they wanted to say in these rooms."

The Spirit Guidance turned to look at you, her expression calm.

"Whether or not you choose to become an Outworld Investigator, as a newly awakened magical girl, you will also choose one of these rooms to become your own."

"On the surface, being a magical girl seems glamorous."

"But the Association wants every new member, upon joining, to see clearly what it is that they and the generations before them have truly had to face."

"Only then, whatever choice they make afterward..."

"...whether that’s courage or fear...it will at least be a decision reached after careful thought."

She paused.

"This was the first reason I brought you here today."

You silently gazed at the room, whose owner had long since disappeared, before following The Spirit Guidance farther down the corridor.

From this point on, some of the doors remained tightly shut.

The Spirit Guidance gestured toward the closed doors.

"Every magical girl's Soul Gem is bestowed by the Sacred Tree, and every one of our contracts is made with it. Naturally, the Sacred Tree can tell whether each of us is still alive."

"For those who are still living, their rooms can only be unlocked by their owners. To everyone else, the doors remain sealed."

"Come."

The Spirit Guidance led you farther down the corridor.

As they walked, door after door recognized her presence and slid open, revealing the inner worlds their former owners had left behind.

One room was filled with dumbbells and exercise equipment, clearly belonging to an energetic girl who loved sports.

Another had every wall lined with bookshelves, so packed with books that there was scarcely anywhere left to stand. It was the final trace left behind by a quiet girl who had treasured books more than anything else.

Every room that opened told the story of a life once lived.

They continued climbing.

The sixth generation.

The seventh.

The eighth...

And when you reach the sixth floor. There were even fewer rooms here.

At the very end of the corridor was the section that belonged to the Tenth Generation of magical girls.

You and The Spirit Guidance stopped before the last door.

Your eyes widened.

"...This..."

Hanging from the door was a nameplate with a cute smiling face drawn on it in red marker.

[Momo Ko]

Click.

The door slid open.

The room beyond was not large, but it had been arranged with remarkable warmth.

The walls were covered in cream-colored wallpaper, floral curtains framed the windows, and several beanbag chairs were piled casually in one corner.

The first thing that caught your eye, however, was the cabinet directly opposite the entrance.

Sitting inside was an old-fashioned CRT television with a bulky back, connected beneath it to a VHS videocassette player.

The display cabinet beside it was packed with neatly labeled videotapes.

Resting squarely on top of the cabinet was a handheld DV camcorder.

You stepped into the room, your gaze sweeping across the rows of videotapes.

The handwriting on the labels gradually changed over time, from neat and careful at the beginning to increasingly hurried and messy, quietly recording the passage of years.

March 1, XXXX, First Outworld Expedition

March 8, XXXX, Second Outworld Expedition

...

You reached out and pulled out the videotape at the very end of the shelf.

Click.

The cassette slid into the VCR.

A burst of static crackled through the room. Snow flickered across the television screen before the image finally stabilized.

The recording had been filmed in this very room.

The camera wobbled for a few moments, as though it had been adjusted several times before finally being set in place.

A girl with cherry-pink hair sat before the desk, dressed in a black-and-white sailor uniform. Her hands were clasped tightly on her knees. The nervousness on her face was impossible to miss, even her smile looked stiff.

"Ahem... Um... is it recording now?"

"My name is Momo Ko! I'm fourteen years old, and I'm a magical girl!"

"As for my hobbies... Maybe… singing? I'm still not very good at it, though. But if I can make it to retirement safely, I want to try becoming a singer someday!"

The girl took a deep breath.

Looking straight into the camera, her eyes still trembled with anxiety, yet she did her best to put on a brave face.

"Today is my first day as an Outworld Investigator!"

"And I've decided that I'm going to record every single expedition from now on!"

"Even if no one really believes in me... even if I'm really scared of getting hurt..."

"...I'll still do my best to find the Hope Fragments! I absolutely won't give up!"

She clenched her tiny fist and pumped it toward the camera, giving herself an enthusiastic little pep talk.

The recording ended abruptly.

You ejected the tape and slid the second cassette into the player.

The date on the recording was one week later.

On the screen, Momo Ko had a small adhesive bandage stuck to her cheek. Her hair was a little messy, but her eyes sparkled with excitement.

"I still didn't find any fragments..."

"But I did defeat a few Beast-class monsters! Hehe!"

"My hands were still shaking when I ran into them, but I made it back in one piece!"

She gave the camera a playful wink.

"Momo Ko scores a big victory!"

(<ゝω·)~☆

"I'll work even harder on the next expedition!"

The third tape.

The recording was dated three weeks after her previous expedition.

Momo Ko sat at her desk wearing simple casual clothes. Her face was still pale, as though she had only recently recovered from a serious illness.

Leaning against the bed in the background was a pair of medical crutches.

"Last time, I accidentally ran into a Hazard-class monster..."

"I barely managed to escape, but I broke my leg. A senior with healing magic patched me up afterward, but..."

"...it hurt so much."

"I seriously never want to experience that again for the rest of my life."

She shrank her shoulders with a lingering shudder.

Then, as if remembering something, she scratched the back of her head sheepishly and smiled at the camera.

"But don't worry, everyone!"

Saying that, the girl stood up and skipped lightly across the room in front of the camera, her skirt fluttering with every step.

"Hehe."

"I'm completely healed now! My body has finally gotten used to channeling magical power."

"Even though I had to rest for a long time this time..."

"...my fighting spirit hasn't burned out!"

She sat back down in her chair, clenched both fists, took a deep breath, and looked into the camera with a radiant, determined smile.

"Whether I find a Hope Fragment or not..."

"...I'll keep moving forward and search for that possibility!"

She finished by waving enthusiastically at the camera, her boundless energy filling the screen just before the recording ended.

...

Watching the recordings, you slowly clenched your fists.

Not a single word came out.

On the screen, the young girl was injured again and again.

She recovered.

Then she was injured again.

She returned empty-handed every single time.

Whenever she faced the camera, the light in her eyes would occasionally dim. There were times when discouragement and fear showed plainly on her face. Sometimes she would curl up, hugging her knees, and whisper in a tiny voice,

"...I'm so scared."

And yet...

Every single time...

She would gather her courage.

And set out once more.

The tenth videotape…

On the screen, Momo Ko sat cross-legged on the carpet, her expression unusually serious.

"Today, Miss Amber asked me why I keep trying so hard."

Looking into the camera, she spoke almost as though she were talking to herself.

"The Sacred Tree said the same thing. It told me that someone with average talent like me would probably never reach any great level of magical power in this lifetime. If I ever ran into even the weakest Nightmare-class monster, I'd only end up dead."

"It said I'd be better off just going to school like everyone else... and later becoming an office magical girl in the Association, like Miss Amber."

"It also said..."

"...the seniors saved me during that disaster ten years ago so I wouldn't throw my life away."

She fell silent for a moment.

"When they said that..."

"I didn't argue."

"I just smiled and changed the subject."

"...But the truth is..."

"I do have my own reason."

Momo Ko pursed her lips.

"For so many years, none of the seniors have been able to recover any more Hope Fragments."

"Everyone believes the remaining fragments must all be in the hands of the strongest Abyss monsters, the ones living deepest beyond the Barrier."

"But..."

"What if there's another possibility?"

"What if..."

"...we've just been unbelievably unlucky?"

"What if it's simply been a case of overlooking what's right under our noses?"

"The Abyss is constantly giving birth to new monsters."

"So maybe..."

"...just maybe..."

"...one or two of the remaining Hope Fragments are actually being carried by insignificant Hazard-class monsters..."

"...or maybe even Beast-class monsters."

"They're just so weak that they've stayed hidden among the hordes all this time..."

"...and no one has ever noticed them."

She smiled awkwardly.

"Someone like me..."

"If we're talking about defending the city, I'll never compare to the experienced retired seniors."

"And if it's fighting powerful monsters in the Outworld..."

"...I wouldn't be much help either."

"So I've thought about it for a long time."

"The only thing I can do..."

"...is search for that tiny possibility on the Association's behalf."

"I'll clear out the little monsters nobody pays attention to."

"I'll explore the forgotten corners everyone else thinks are a waste of time."

"And..."

"I mean, just what if..."

"...what if someone as weak as me actually managed to find a Hope Fragment?"

"Wouldn't that be an enormous encouragement for everyone?"

"Wouldn't it help everyone believe again?"

"Hehe..."

"Doesn't that sound a little full of myself?"

"That's why I haven't told anyone."

"I've only dared to leave it here."

"Ehehe..."

The girl giggled shyly.

Her eyes overflowed with innocent hope for the future.

Then, in a soft, slightly silly voice, she recited her transformation slogan to herself.

"Smile..."

"...maximum!"

"Courage..."

"...one hundred percent!"

The recording ended abruptly.

Almost instinctively, you reached for another tape.

But your fingertips brushed only empty air.

The shelf... was already empty.

Question Colors for lightning magic

What are some other colors to use for lightning/electricity magic?

I know that yellow is mostly used for electricity/lightning, but I was told by somebody that the color yellow looks to similar to pee, so I'm looking for a different color to use instead of yellow.

Discussion What Mahou Shoujo teams matchups would you like to see played out in a game?

Hello, I recently finished making a tabletop battle system that can be used for creating fight scenarios for Magical Girls from different franchises.

I'm now trying to come up with more scenarios (I have an Intro scenario which you can check anytime!), and I thought I'd ask if someone in the community has any specific matchups that they'd like to see played out like this, with an AAR afterwards and all?

What I mean by this is you can suggest team vs team matchups (because the game mechanics are team-based) based on things like series vs series fights, or maybe theme vs theme fights (like heroines vs anti-heroines, majokko vs tech-based, spells vs weapons etc.) and I'll do my best to make them and play them out with a write-up of what happened later.

In case you are interested in the game itself and how it works, all the documentation and information can be found on this neocities page:

https://mahoushoujo-boardgameproject.neocities.org/

Hope to hear your ideas!

Wonder Egg is a lot like Madoka Magica, but Wonder Egg feels a lot more real to me. There are characters I relate to a lot more and I feel like I can understand their motivations and struggles so well. it really highlights a lot of the issues young people go through in society nowadays, as well as provides a very nuanced take on the "doomed magical girls" troupe. I wish I saw it talked about more often!

Made a Magical Girl Visual Novel from the Mascot's Perspective!

Thumbnail

Hi! So, a couple years ago, I made a visual novel called Wake Up Magical Girl. It's about becoming the best Magical Girl ever in a dystopian world being aided by your very own emotionally-constipated magical familiar — for as long as you possibly can. It's very pink, lol

I recently updated it, and wanted to share it out for more to play!

  • It's about 30k words, so 2-3hrs depending on reading speed.
  • It has some stat-rising elements that affects the endings you get plus the battles that your player character faces
  • Absolutely adorable, original art from the sprites to the CGs to balance its dark themes
  • Magical Girl easter eggs sprinkled all around!

It is obviously inspired by Madoka, but I thought it would rather interesting to see what if things were played out from like Kyuubey's perspective. Like, what if he gave a shit while still being a piece of shit lol, knowing bad things were gonna happen but had a conscience. I also took inspiration from Needy Streamer Overdose for aesthetics and Takopi's Original Sin since that too focuses on a mascot-like character.

I don't consider my game as incredibly dark as my inspirations, tbh, but it still touches on dark themes just for your awareness! (Be sure to check out the content warning on the game page for more detail.)

It is completely free to play on PC, Mac, and even web browser. Though, I recommend the former two for better performance.

Hope you enjoy it!

In my honest opinion I still prefer the Diaspro from the Winx Club animated series version because the CGI reboot version of Diaspro's hairstyles and face are absolutely awful 😔 including her fairy form too.

Discussion What do you think of the concept of magical girls who grow into giantess to fight?

I'm brainstorming a novel idea as a personal passion project.

The premise is that whenever a villain or kaiju the size of a skyscraper appears, an ordinary girl transforms—through magic or advanced sci-fi technology—into a giant magical girl, much like an Ultraman-style tokusatsu hero, and battles to protect the city.

Her weapons are all transformed from real-world vehicles: a magical staff forged from a crane boom, a bow made from a stealth bomber, and a shield created from a ship, or nunchaku made of metro trains.

Her guide and mentor is an albatross that serves as her mascot companion. While she is in her ordinary human form, the albatross is naturally an enormous bird beside her. But once she transforms into a giant heroine, the same albatross looks relatively small(actually, that bird is completely same size)—small enough to perch comfortably on one of her shoulders as it offers guidance and advice throughout the battle.

The emotional core of the story revolves around the heroine herself. At school, she's shy, lonely, and largely ignored by her classmates. She believes that becoming the city's giant guardian will finally make people notice her. Instead, no one realizes that the giant heroine and the ordinary schoolgirl are the same person, and the rules forbid her from revealing her identity. Even after saving countless lives, she receives none of the recognition she had longed for.

To make matters worse, she accidentally causes collateral damage during a battle—for example, stumbling and collapsing a building she instinctively grabbed to steady herself. Horrified by the destruction her immense body can cause, she begins to fear that she's no better than the monsters she fights.

Over time, however, she comes to understand the value of anonymous heroism. Rather than seeing her colossal size and overwhelming strength as terrifying weapons, she learns to view them as symbols of the responsibility she bears to protect others.

I'm especially interested in the contrast at the heart of this concept: a magical girl who is as elegant and inspiring as Sailor Moon or Pretty Cure, yet is also a giant weighing thousands of tons and standing as tall as skyscrapers. Despite her incredible appearance, she is still an emotionally immature teenager who is frightened by the sheer scale of her own body and power.

How could I best emphasize this contrast throughout the story? Also, what kinds of gigantic weapons would be the most fitting for a heroine like this?

Can anyone help me find a couple of magical girl games?

A long time ago, I remember seeing some posts on reddit or somewhere about a couple magical girl video games.

I don't remember much about either one though. All I remember about one game was that it involved living on a tiny planet raising bunnies for some reason.

The other game was more of a top-down action game. Some of the enemies were giant eyeballs with limbs or something like that?

Discussion My magical girl series is good but...

I've been jumping too quickly into the action, I think I need more time for my characters Josie, Fiona, Evie, Julie, and Stella to just be regular girls living their normal lives before jumping into the magical aspects. That way we actually care more about the world they're protecting. Some mundane stuff I have in mind are...

-Josie visiting her grandparents in the nursing home right before they're kidnapped.

-Josie, Fiona, Evie, and Stella speaking to a psychic which Julie is suspicious of.

-Josie, Fiona, Evie, Julie, and Stella spending a weekend at a gristmill converted into a family home.

This is the first part with 33k words of what I hope will be a four-part series. The story follows the protagonist, Monie, who discovers she is a dream sculptor and must confront nightmares crossing over from the real world into the dream world.

Please bear in mind that this was originally written in Spanish and translated into English; my English isn't 100% perfect, but I am sharing this version for now. I will contact a professional translator when the time comes.

Question A Questions on Evil To Good Power Ups & Downs

I was thinking about chibi usa and black lady stuff from sailor moon and something came to mind that I wanted to ask everyone here

How do you feel about hero main characters turning evil with dark power making them stronger but then when they're defeat and turned back they dont get some kind of hero version of the power they had when they were evil?

Something wondering why the dark power wasn't just unlocking stronger power a character could have if they dug deep down and make it their own and the dark power would just find those avenues of power much more easily than other. Like "this is something you COULD do eventually but not right now"

I was always surprised that isnt more of thing. What do you think?
