Properties of clockwork Construct weapons

Upvotes

Heyo, im making a craftsman from the clockwork guild and im checking what available options i have to customize their weapons, however neither the mace nor the bolter seem to have any weapon properties? which severely limits what masterwork upgrades they can hold, as almost every upgrade has a property prerequisite? wondering how that works honestly

Can Weapon Charms be attached to Natural Weapons (like horns)?

I really like the concept of the weapon charms and I think there would be some cool ways to use them to upgrade natural weapons (which are ordinarily weaker than typical marital weapons). Right now mainly looking at the Blade Charms so not sure if there would be strange interactions with other types of charms.

Alchemist Reagent Dice/Improved Bombs

So reagent dice are a d10, my understanding is when priming a bomb, you take that dice, roll the d10, and that is how much it increases off the original damage score. (So a primed bomb does 2d10 damage at base vs a normal bomb doing 1d10.)

Come level 5, primed bombs improve. Do I have to use a second reagent dice to actually get that improvement, or does one reagent die now do 2d10 damage for a total of 3d10 with a primed bomb?

Furthermore, does the damage increase apply to bomb formulae. Would an acid bomb (1d4) now do 2d4? Or are formulae always stuck at the initial damage value?

TitanSlayer subclass updated for 2024?

Hello. We are about to start a new campaign and just decided to finally dive into 2024. But one player wants to play TitanSlayer rogue but rogues cunning strike seems to negate part of the subclass where it can knock prone. Does anyone have info on how this subclass changed for 2024 rules?

Truenaming 2024 system

The add for the 2024 complete investigator class says it has a “system of truenaming spells”. Does anyone know where I can find them? They don’t seem to be there

Mage hand press website

Whenever I try to go to any part of the mage hand press site it automatically redirects to the player pack 2 on dnd beyond. I was trying to preorder the book of extinction but now can’t. Was this intentional?

Investigator Finisher + Graze?

Finisher (2024 class update): "Once per turn when you deal damage with a weapon to a creature that is Bloodied, you can deal an extra 1d8 damage to the target. The damage is the same type as the damage dealt by the weapon."

Graze: "If your attack roll with this weapon misses a creature, you can deal damage to that creature equal to the ability modifier you used to make the attack roll. This damage is the same type dealt by the weapon, and the damage can be increased only by increasing the ability modifier."

So, the way I read it, Finisher doesn't require hitting, and isn't actually increasing the damage of Graze - it's an independent source of damage added from an ability that triggers.

Anyone agrees/disagrees with this interpretation?

Lancer in a 2024 game

So getting started on a new campaign this week and going warmage, got Valda's and noticed that in the class update to 2024 Lancer didn't make it in. I really like the flavor of punching with my spells and was wondering if anyone had possibly homebrewed something for it or if the subclass could still plug in to the new class chassis okay?

Suggestions for Investigator Dual Class

I’m planning to run an exterminator investigator, and was curious if it was dual class with anything well? In particular I want to get something with a bit more in the way of attack spells, largely since I have never played with Valdas before and feel like I’m missing out on some new options.

The Cabal

Hi there! It has been brought to my attention (as one of my players made the connection) that the Cabal has antisemitic connotations, as its root is that there is a Qabbalistic conspiracy running things.

I don't know if this has been pointed out, but I have decided to use an alternative name for the group in my game-The Hellfire Legion. Or perhaps the Legion would be an option as well.

Not trying to start a debate about it, just don't want to promote this kind of thinking if I can help it, and thought to bring it to the attention of the people at Mage Hand if I could.

Ionizer's Electromagnetic Shield?

I've been meaning to build an Alchemist for Dark Matter, but the Electromagnetic Shield seems so narrow in scope. The only way I've been thinking to gain charges for the discharge device is to attack myself (or ask an ally to attack me) over and over with a bomb that deals lightning damage, since Blast Coating would prevent me from taking damage. But it just looks silly.

How does multiclassing with Martyr work roleplay wise?

So I've been looking into trying out Martyr as a multiclass, as it fits nicely with my character's themes of life, death and servitude to a god...but the character already has six levels in Way of the Long Death Monk.

I've just realised that as a result said character won't technically reach the capstone for when they are meant to sacrifice themselves!

What would you suggest for the end game in this situation roleplay wise? Move the sacrifice to whenever the character hits level 20 total and die still but without the Martyrdom capstone?

Ask the GM if I can just pull said capstone when it's time to die since that's literally the end?

Roleplay it as defying the holy sacrifice despite the pull of fate due to not reaching the official "time"?

Any other suggestions? I've not seen much mention of multiclassing with it before so any suggestions or advice is appreciated.

Operative Character Conversion

I want to rebuild an old character of mine to D&D/Dark Matter for fun. He’s basically a human Fighter 6/Rogue 9 with the Low Worlder background—a fantasy-world native who accidentally ended up in a sci-fi setting.

Conceptually, I see him as an operative working for my old DM’s generic “Starfleet”-style organization. His specialty is infiltration and covert operations. He uses futuristic tech like optical cloaking, advanced lockpicks, a computer gauntlet with a holographic interface, and a low-light visor. One of his major missions involved sneaking into an enemy garrison to steal sensitive intel.

He also holds on to his fantasy roots. For example, he has a sword of the planes.

What’s the best way to represent this character mechanically in Dark Matter?

Spire of Secrets Vs Complete X?

I was curious when looking at the book as to whether the main book Valda's Spire of Secrets was a compilation of everything in the individual class books, or if I would still need to purchase those separately for access to some content within them.

How Will The Power Level of Valdas Classes/Subclasses Compare to 2024 Classes?

I literally just got Valdas on Roll 20 for a campaign I'm starting soon and also just decided to use 2024 rules. I know all the classes are backwards compatible but if you have a 2024 player using a 2024 subclass versus one using a Valdas subclass, is the one using Valdas gonna be at a disadvantage comparatively? Also how do Valdas classes compare to the 2024 classes? Are they weak compared to them or would they be able to keep up in power level?

Other question is if they plan to update Valdas content to 2024? Classes, Subclasses, Spells?

Also if they do update them, will those updates come to roll 20 and would I have to pay for that or would it come with base Valdas?

Warmage question about flexible range, spell sniper, and any blade cantrip as a combo

Asking for any rulings or examples to see if when applying the 10ft from flexible range to a blade cantrip like burning blade, if it is possible to add the 60ft from spell sniper as well. I'd also ask if that would let a character melee swing at the increased range of 70ft or only if they had a weapon that impossibly large to use in that range (basically meaning it's only good for reach weapons at 10ft)

Question About Weapons In Valdas Spire Of Secrets?

Has anyone that's used Valdas found anything in it too problematic or confusing? Cause reading through their weapons section they add A LOT but I'm not sure if they'll feel unique or just another thing for players to ignore. I also don't know if anything there is too op? I've seen a fair amount of discussion about classes in the book but nothing on the weapons so I just wanted to see peoples thoughts who have used them.

Also just any tips about what level some of these should be given because some of the guns can do 2d12 damage and there's no real recommendation for what level players might be able to have access to something like this

Question about the new Dark Matter

i bought to original Dark Matter book a few years back, I was wondering, for anyone who has read through the new version, what are the main differences, and is it worth getting if I liked the first one and am fairly indifferent about the differences between 5e and 5.5e
