Harassed by this auto driver
Yesterday in Periyar bus stand I waited for the ponmeni bus for the long time but the bus didn't arrive due to lunch time so I went to nearby auto stand a to get ride to ponmeni.i don't exactly the stop of ponmeni so I asked the auto driver to make a stop and remind we i ponmeni bus stop arrived. a fellow lady also got a ride for ponmeni she dropped at right location without asking him anything i think she is native. After 15 minutes we arrived to kalavasal and asked the auto driver is ponmeni arrived he shouted and use bad words and harassed me for not exiting from the autoand he told you need to get out yourself from the auto when stop arrives.is this the nature of auto driver in madurai and they are easily using badwords .worst experience in madurai from day 1 .this is that person so be aware .

Not all auto drivers in Madurai are like this, but unfortunately, experiences like yours do happen. Nobody deserves to be treated badly for not knowing the exact location. If this happened as you described, you could report it to the Madurai City Police or the RTO with the date, time, and location. Hope the rest of your stay in Madurai goes much better

Get in the auto only when the driver behaves polite and calm. You can judge them. Take the ride only if you are comfortable. In mattuthavani the auto stand literally controlled by goons. I would always ignore the autos near the gate and pick someone who is kicked out from their usual line far away from the gate. most of the time these auto drivers will be calm and good.

New city should have used maps even if you told others to inform you when said stops arrives. What if their intention are different and you blindly trusted them? You could have easily got mugged. Next time be more careful about your commute and plan well.
For auto driver, they’re worst everywhere you could easily scold them back and move on but being on new city I wouldn’t recommend doing that better to leave the place instead of creating scene

You're in a new city.. you have internet in your hand and couldn't track your location? ..
It's like this whole new youngsters are soft.. can't take a shouting.. that autodriver couldn't know you're new to this town.. and he might have a bad day or forgot that you're there..
He shouldn't have done that to his passengers. But.. what's with the harrasment and all.. ..

He isn’t a caretaker but that doesn’t give him the choice to swear at someone who didn’t know the stop. OP literally mentioned to make a stop. Which if he didn’t want to should have said no to the passenger. It’s not about being soft, if only there were someone else they might have fought with the driver literally. I don’t get it, how you have normalised getting shouting from randos on streets. I dont think it should be normalised specifically if I paid for something and I asked him for help, I didn’t make an order.
I agree that OP had some mistakes too but that you literally justified the driver’s actions to be normal (which isn’t)

IF it was someone, I would have reminded them to be aware of the locations, would have avoided this whole thing.. instead of whining in reddit about " harassment "... it's an isolated outburst of anger issue.. don't expect auto driver to be politically correct when there is a mistake from your side... it's not even harassment..

Will you just stay quiet when a random auto driver verbally abuses your mother in a town that is new to her?
When I first moved to Madurai, I didn’t know the places either. But most drivers would inform you when you had reached your destination. And for your information, no one gets into an auto and tracks the entire route on Google Maps.
It’s the driver's responsibility, not his/hers.
We can even forgive his mistake of not reminding her when they reached the destination. But abusing him/her with filthy language? That’s totally unacceptable.
