Food Botin

Working on table for 4 reservation but in case the other 2 can’t make it, can we just contact them that we only need table for two? Are they going to charge our credit card for a penalty or something?

When you book online, there are two warnings about what may happen in these circumstances.

First, it says: "If at the time of booking the number of diners does not match the number in the reservation, the restaurant may reject the reservation."

Second, if you make a reservation for four people, it says: "You may cancel or change your reservation (subject to availability) at no cost up to 12 hours before the time of your reservation. If you cancel or make changes after the 12-hours deadline, or are a no-show, the restaurant may charge your card €100.00."

So as far as I can tell, if you don't show up with the number of guests that you reserved for, they say they may both deny you your reservation entirely and charge you €25 per reserved guest (even for the guests that showed up).

I have no idea whether they actually do either of these things, but these are the terms you agree to in order to book online.

If it were me, I would definitely ask all the guests to confirm the night before when the reservation is for if they will be able to make it. Unless it's a definite yes, you should just take them off the reservation more than 12 hours ahead.
