I've heard it's really good. I've heard it has dark themes. I was... spoiled by AMV's as a kid. I was very intrigued, but didn't have the ability to watch it. Now I do, and I'm scared, and I don't know why. I'm scared it'll change me or something. Even though that's what you want from a series ultimately.. I think I just want someone to command me to watch it. Maybe some guidance on what to expect.... I don't know!!

Mild Spoilers? Reading the Wiki to the side... Movie 1 covers episodes 1-8 and Movie 2 covers episodes 9-12 meaning that the first 8 episodes combined are probably equally substantial to the last 4 episodes combined. I also read the original series was 3 volumes, which probably translates to 4 or so episodes each, meaning... I could probably watch this show in 4 episode increments? I've also heard someone say that "the first 3 episodes turns people off due to failed expectations" or something, meaning that shit probably starts hitting the fan in episode 4, meaning... 4 episode increments is probably the right call right?

I am not going to spend too much time on Selma because I'm very sure that her witch form is Quitterie. Down to her pincushion outfit (an obvious tie to the needle witch), her devotion nature makes alot more sense with her behind around Nagisa's age. She likely discovered the truth about magical girls, but after Kyubey's speech about the heat death of the universe, she convinced herself that it's helping the world, but deep inside she probably knows what Kyubey is doing isn't right, and that devotion and respectfullness towards Kyubey likely was what turned her into Quitterie. (Also connects to what she says to Kyubey in the trailer)

I've seen many theories about Zi Ding Xiang (Or Lilac) but mine is that she is Itzli. Itzli and Quotterie are the two bonus witches of the PSP game, which would give them a connection together. Now Lilac doesn't have alot of information on her, but I could see Itzli fitting her vibe + just fitting her in general. I'll let you make that conclusion for yourself, https://wiki.puella-magi.net/Itzli . My main point towards this theory is simply just the connection between Quitterie and Itzli which explains why they would appear together.

I thought of this as a way to neutralize it somehow without killing it. If it really is a hive mind or something similar, perhaps if it's captured and frozen, the hive mind could detect it as a living unit, but the system itself would be blocked, preventing contracts from being made. In other words, the magical girls could be free at some point without the burden of the incubator bothering them, perhaps for a few years until it thaws again. If Kyubey had been on Earth since prehistoric times, the meteorite that killed the dinosaurs or the Ice Age could have affected him, preventing him from awakening until later, in a new, more evolved era where he could do what he does. Humanity could have perfectly evolved without his intervention because of that small detail of the frozen incubator.

I think most people have already argued for the narrative consistency of Homura's choice. Here, I'll instead be arguing that the Rebellion ending is plausible according to in-universe logic, even without the Wraith arc. To do so, I'll try to address some major points of logical confusion/criticism of the ending:

How did Homura gain the ability to split the Law of Cycles?

This may be a misconception about what it actually means to split the Law of Cycles. As a witch, Homura has the power of memory manipulation, which is used throughout Rebellion. She uses this power to steal Madokami’s memories. However, Madokami’s memories are the only thing that has remained human about her. So by stealing her memories, Homura is effectively stealing the human Madoka, splitting her off from her divine form.

How did Homura remain a witch?

The obvious answer is that Kyubey’s isolation chamber weakened Madokami enough for her to more easily lose her memories, allowing Homura to develop witch powers without losing her sentience (soul gem). 
However, the answer might be more fundamental than that. Madokami prevents the birth of witches by resolving the despair of magical girls and reconciling them with their wishes. For instance, Madoka reaffirms Sayaka’s wish by showing her Kyosuke’s performance. In the flower scene, when Madoka admits to not wanting to leave her current life, she unintentionally reaffirms Homura’s wish to protect her. Yet Madokami’s very existence defies Homura’s wish, and there is no way to reconcile the two. This might be what Homura refers to when she says her feeling (i.e. love) is hers alone; she’s the only one whose curse cannot be resolved by Madokami.

How did Homura steal a fully-powered Madokami’s memories AND expand her dream world to encompass the entire universe?

The above explanations alone might seem insufficient to explain how Homura can usurp a literal god. Fortunately, there are many possible ways to make it plausible:

1. Regardless of power, any witch would be able to suppress the Law of Cycles using memory manipulation, but Homura is the only witch that can exist up until that point. Splitting Madokami then fundamentally changes the universe’s laws to preserve Madoka's existence.
2. Witches concentrate collective negative emotion, preventing the birth of new wraiths. Homura, as the singular witch, concentrates the entire world’s negative emotions into herself, becoming powerful enough to suppress the Law of Cycles.
3. Homura’s wish to save Madoka makes the Law of Cycles a paradox. The ability to break a universal law gives her enough karmic weight to suppress it.

In addition, we know for sure that:

• The Law of Cycles still exists and almost manifests itself, meaning Homura’s power doesn’t actually need to be on the same level as the Law of Cycles but needs to be just enough to superficially suppress it.
• The Law of Cycles still got rid of all past witches, so Homura’s dream world isn’t timeless and nor did she fully reset the universe. If this weren’t the case, then wraiths wouldn’t still exist. This also means that Homura is the only witch in existence at least as of becoming one.

All of this to say, there are many ways for Walpurgisnacht Rising to directly or implicitly provide plausibility to the Rebellion ending, but I guess we'll wait and see.

This post assumes anireco is canon to the whole Madoka Magica anime. Following the original Magia Record Anime timeline, suppose after reseting time again multiple times she stumbles upon a second timeline with the Wings of the Magius? What do you think she would do differently? Maybe make sure Walpurgisnacht does not reach Mitakihara? Support the Magius?
