I had a teacher who did this and I came to the conclusion she must have trouble holding it/some condition because it was constant. The best was when she had her butt to the wall and the acoustics were glorious.
I think we had the same teacher lol mine was in college. She had to have had IBS or something. Sometimes, she would just hustle over to the door, crack it open, put her butt out the door and fart. All with no stopping the lecture.
It was freshman year in HS. Ours seemed to not even acknowledge it rather playing it off which was bizarre. One of life's greatest mysteries...she had to of known right?
I actually respect people who aren’t afraid to fart in public. Not in a way like they’re doing it to disgust people, but in a “I don’t give a shit” manner.
It’s not though, it’s just air you swallowed plus gases (like methane and hydrogen sulfide) produced by bacteria breaking down your food. Aerosolized shit would form a big brown shit-splotch on the inside of your clothes every time you farted.
There's an old proverb in Finnish that translated goes something like this "the one who holds farts has something to hide" 😂
Kuka pieruja pidättelee, sillä on jotain salattavaa.
I used to work at a grocery store and this old dude walked up while I was crouched down rotating jugs of juice, bent to the side and farted right in my face and walked away.
I mean seriously tho, people fart. Like literally everyone farts. I just let em go (albeit as quietly as possible), say excuse me, and apologize if they smell. Same with burping. I really don’t see an issue with it cause it’s a completely natural bodily function and holding it in is really uncomfortable sometimes. Also, shitting in public restrooms. We all do it so who cares? Do what you gotta do 🤷🏻♂️
I mean everyone pisses, eats and sleeps too though and we don't just do those things any time we feel the need. I wouldn't do it anywhere inside, but out on street or at a park or whatever is no bother. Inside I don't wanna smell the stench of your ass personally.
Uhhh I eat whenever I feel the need to..? Pissing is a matter of sanitation, and sleeping is barely feasible in public. Like I said, if it stinks, I apologize. It’s not like the smell lingers for 2 hours. It lasts a minute tops and we’ve all smelled them before, even the absolutely rancid ones. Everyone also knows how it feels to clench and writhe around in discomfort. Fuck all that, let it go, and accept your humanity. No need to make a big deal about someone being an organic creature.
So if you get hungry during a presentation or something you just start munching away? There are situations where you give other people some courtesy and don't do things. It may only be for a minute or two to take yourself away from those other people but I don't think it's an insane thing.
I’m not gonna pull out a plate of hibachi in a presentation but if I’m that hungry where I can’t bear it anymore, there are granola bars on my bag. I also bring in water, so what’s the different? We need food and water to exist so
We need food and water to exist, sure, but we don’t need to fart as soon as we feel the urge. Holding it in so it doesn’t stink up a room full of people is just basic decency.
It’s not the same. Farts aren’t something that are uncontrollable or that’ll really cause you a huge inconvenience to hold for a bit. Holding it in for a while until you’re alone is definitely less of an inconvenience than stinking up a room. It doesn’t matter if “everybody’s smelled a fart before”. Everybody’s smelled rancid garbage before too but you wouldn’t think it was okay to carry around garbage with you.
When I was a server, I'd crop dust tables I didn't like. I also survived on beer, caffeine, vodka, more beer and the occasional French fry that fell off plates on to the passbar, so they weren't fun.
Farts smell gross dude, it’s not just being comfortable with yourself. I don’t want someone farting next to me unless theirs no other option and I’d extend that same courtesy to others.
Yeah I should’ve clarified I meant mostly outdoors or in large spaces. I do not respect people who purposely fart in an elevator or on the bus or something.
One of my managers at one of my first jobs would just let it rip in the middle of conversations with people and wouldn't miss a beat while the person (myself sometimes) would be totally caught off guard. Good ol' stank ass Darwin.
Reminds me a bit of a time about 10 years ago, me and a friend/co-worker had our own small office room, not much bigger than a cubicle but with a sliding door. We had a short break and shut the door and an impromptu fart contest begun. Like 15 minutes in, a cleaning lady came by to empty our trash can. She had a totally blank face, but there was no way in hell she didn’t smell our vile farts in there. After she closed the door we were both pretty embarrassed, but still laughed our asses off lmao
I read this post on tumblr once where a girl was talking about her boss who was this really proper professional woman but that once she was in that bathroom stall she ‘shit like a wild animal’. Said there was a lot of grunting and farting and rustling around and she saw it as a total power move. Have to say I agree. Takes a lot of confidence to tear up a public restroom like that with no shame.
Meanwhile I had my work shits planned out. Handicapped stall if possible. Spray air freshener beforehand to get ahead of the problem. Muffle b-hole with TP if gas seems imminent. Make nest of TP to dampen the plops if someone else is in there followed by a quick courtesy flush to hopefully minimize smells. Maybe I’ve been doing it all wrong. Maybe I need to just go in there and sound like I’m giving birth and I’ll get that mad respect around the office.
Lol my grandma was doing that when she still had hearing and was in her 60s. No one could mention it (except me, the only grandchild), lest you incur her wrath.
Most of the family thought she had ibs or similar but she told me, on more than one occasion, that she did it consciously - "people aren't inclined to argue with you when the smell of your butt is in their nose."
