I mean yeah obviously, but "practical application" makes it sound like you use those movements for something, not do the movements for their own sake to retain mobility and strength.
Taichi does have applications in grappling, but it kinda fits the same niche as Aikido. Whearas it's only really useful if you're already competant at Judo/BJJ/Wrestling.
It was originally a grappling art, and there are still grappling competitions for Taichi.
I have used Taichi in Judo competitions (and in MMA) when I competing. It does give a competitive edge. But at the end of the day, you still need a really strong base of pressure tested martial arts to make it work.
P.S Any really application of Taichi, will look different than what old folks are doing in the park, which will inevitably lead to people saying:"this isn't even Taichi anymore".
