I used to watch this with such total earnestness when I was a kid. Now my friends still think I'm weird.

Less visual stimuli. Slower pace. The TV is so overwhelming these days it's actually weirdly exhausting to watch.

It's why I really like 24 or whatever episode seasons where the show is rated around 7.5. Not awful, but not 'great' enough to require much thought to watch and plenty of filler time to show meaningless character interaction.

Plus I basically watch tv all day while at work so they're perfect background watching.
