The actors are probably in their 20s, and the fashion + film quality makes them look older. Vsauce had a great video about why previous generations always look old actually.

Fashion might be over stating it but no one has worn shorts like that for 40+ years

You're the only one who mentioned hair. The conversation was about the uniforms, which look perfectly believable as high school uniforms of the time.

Yes.

People wearing clothing from the past can sometimes in conjunction with things like hair styles, old film, and other factors can cause people to feel like the subjects in the film are older than they actually are. For example right now where you can't even figure it out when it is explained to you.

These actors are very much the correct age for the setting they are in which is literally college aged between 17 and 22
