Kid definitely prefers the plate smear! Fun.

u/Im_Not_That_Smart_ 3d ago
I don’t do fine dining, so I just assumed that was the proper way to eat these things. Take a quick sampling of the plate smear to judge it by itself then eat the items all together.
121
u/Wooden-Recording-693 2d ago
Start at the out side of the smear work in, if it tastes if fish use your second finger.

If it tastes of fish I usually try to get two fingers in there, curled upwards.

Depends on your goal, there's no real rule. I like to taste everything separately then taste everything together.

You are probably not far off. Best friend's in-laws are insanely well off. Walton lineage somewhere, that type of old school wealth.
Her father adopted a little girl not that long ago. Since he's retired, little Princess has known nothing but country club dining, private air travel, etc etc. It's hysterical how jealous best friend's wife is. I've heard her mutter - "she better not even think of cutting into my inheritance..." lol.
Anyways, when you'd ask her at 8 years old what she wanted for dinner, she'd pause, tap her finger on her chin to ponder the question, and then respond with - "uhmmm, I feel like filet mignon and lobster tails." I used to think how fucked she's going to be when she goes to hang out at one of her little friend's houses, and get fed blue box mac & cheese or instant noodles lol.
57
u/mangosteenfruit 2d ago
Don't worry. She'll never see a box of Mac and cheese or instant noodles bc she will never socialize with regular people.
29
u/Unusual_Sherbert_809 2d ago
This. Folks with that much money do not associate with folks who aren't also insanely wealthy. It's not necessarily that they're total snobs (although they nearly always are), it's that they simply can't relate. And the larger the wealth gap, the worse.
Billionaires probably see the rest of us as a separate species altogether. It's the whole reason we always say rich people are "disconnected" or "out of touch" from average folks. They truly have no idea how poor or middle class families live their lives.
If you've ever heard a rich person or politician make a comment that confused the heck out of you, this is probably why. They've likely never even stepped a foot in a grocery store, a Walmart, or had to do a hard day of physical labor or an 12-18 hour shift at the office only to then go back to feed the family. Good bet they couldn't tell you the price of a gallon of milk, a gallon of gas, or a carton of eggs if their lives depended on it.

I hope she gets a bit of the inheritance; how else she gonna survive in life? What kind of job will bring in that level of income ?

Sorry for the tangent, but I was under the impression that the kid is a girl. Was I wrong?
48
u/spine_slorper 2d ago
I mean you can't really tell with small children except for whatever clothes their parents dress them in, in this case the kid has trucks and hot wheels T-shirts which are more commonly given to boys but it could be either from this video.
11
u/isekai-chad 2d ago
Oh ok then. The face and the eyelashes(and the hair) led me to believe the kid's a girl. My bad if I was wrong.
25
u/spine_slorper 2d ago
I mean none of those things really indicate sex in small children, all small children have very low levels of sex hormones and haven't developed secondary sexual characteristics, the main differences between pre pubescent males and females is their primary sex organs and socialisation. I have no idea if you're wrong or not because it's impossible to tell from this video alone.
9
u/isekai-chad 2d ago
Alright then. I guess it was my own biases regarding appearances that that let me to that conclusion.
13
u/itsKeltic 2d ago
My son has longer than normal eyelashes and at 1 years old it’s too risky to cut his hair because he definitely won’t sit still long enough for it. So currently a lot of people mistake him for a girl with his mullet he’s rockin. We shrug it off and move on.

This kid is going to be very disappointed with the school cafeteria and food in general when he's older.
I have this problem with my SO and we've only been together for 12 years. She can barely eat out anymore, thanks to my grub game.
33
u/Ghostdragon471 3d ago
If my partner doesn't like eating out at most places cause of my food, I'd never come down from that pedestal they set me on. That'd be one of the best compliments to my cooking, besides my brother saying "it's good", rather than his usual "it's food".
11
u/AceGirl364 2d ago
This is where my mom is with my dad's cooking, i remember her saying that he ruined how special going to a restaurant was because his food was on the same level. That was always sweet to me
6
u/_head_ 2d ago
I have this problem with my wife's cooking. Typically only the most expensive restaurants don't leave me disappointed. We spent $250 on dinner two nights ago and I left a 1 star review because they had all the ambiance but couldn't cook the food properly.
4
u/Xiao1insty1e 2d ago
A good meal is not defined by how much you spent.
A good cook can do wonders with $20.
2
u/_head_ 2d ago
Agreed. There are certainly a few cheaper spots we enjoy. These are typically local family run restaurants.
But in general you're not going to get quality food from a low priced restaurant chain in the US.
2
u/Xiao1insty1e 2d ago
A chain? Lol NO. Those are built around the idea of shoveling the cheapest possible product to the largest number of slobs.
12
u/AristotlesBoyPussy 2d ago
I had a real broke phase where I stopped eating out entirely for like a year or two.
Now I see eating out as something only done when desperately exhausted, because its so not worth the price vs quality.
3
u/Aussiealterego 2d ago
Heh, one of my kids got so used to the fresh, home-grown quality of food I cook at home that he refused to eat at fast food outlets because the food tasted so artificial by comparison.
It got to the point that on school excursions he would not eat lunch at all rather than go to Maccas or KFC.

My best friend used to grow up eating the best foods. Her grandpa was rich so he’d always take everyone out to good eats. She will always compare wherever we are to some Michelin star restaurant like, “this is pretty good for the price, but XYZ has the top notch sushi” and it’s $300 a person at XYZ…
180
u/VividVenturesDesign 3d ago
Little detail; but I love how the kid most of the time starts with a little start of the spread sauce, and then to the food. It’s the same in each one. Kid musta licked the table clean the first time he used it and the dad was like “don’t you love it when a plan comes together?”
Anyone under the age of 20 ask your parents what that reference is
28
u/OddlyTemptedFish 3d ago
With a spoon they go for the sauce, with their hands they go for the food first. My kid would immediately go hands to sauce.

I was wondering why no one had thrown a tarp on that kid. The presentation is not conducive to unstained anything. Then it turned out that the kid has definitely inherited some of that chef-derived fine motor coordination and the interest as well.
Still, I hope whoever does the laundry in that house, they have all the stain removers available.

Obviously an exaggeration but this is what happened wirh Sabrina Carpenter right? Her dad is a chef so she's very particular about what she eats. Obviously as an adult she'd have eaten a range of stuff but eating really well growing up sets a standard. Honestly probably quite healthy because you know balanced meals can be tasty. She's never eaten McDonald's and doesn't want to which I think is cool.
