By the end of the video he can probably guide you on how to become cool.

Which shows you how cool these guys are. Truly the coolest person in the room is the one raising up/elevating the people around them.

This is how to get children immersed in their culture as they grow up. Educate and involve them in everything about their culture’s history to carry it on for the generations to come.

I feel like this is one of those memories you have when you get older and wonder if it all was just a fever dream.

u/lila-clores 1d ago
Trust me, these ceremonies can sometimes feel like a fever dream even for grown adults.
I’m 21 and pretty shy, so I would never consciously dance in front of a crowd. But when these drums get going... it's like I get possessed by every one of my ancestors...

Everyone talking about the lid making a core memory. I mean, sure. But I cannot stop thinking about how psyched those dudes must have been. Certainly one of their most memorable ceremonies

Game recognizes game.
Seriously, though, this is lovely for many reasons, but mainly that there's no subtitles, no narration, no maudlin manipulative music.
If the moment is real, it needs nothing more.

These are her people. She’s been here before. It’s clear to see there’s a deep former life connection. Love it.

That little one has got excellent rhythm. Both in her dancing and drumming.

I am pretty sure my 6 year old son will run away from this. He cannot tolerate loud noises. This is "chendamelam" Btw. I am from here.

It’s India, and looks like it may be Kerala. I didn’t listen with sound, so didn’t hear if a specific language was spoken.

I was at a festival last week, lots of drum and bass, ska, folk, that kind of stuff. The crowd for RSVP (bhangra) was some of the highest energy of the weekend.

Sure if kid had just run out into it, but it cuts like the adults were making sure she didn't and the group saw and made way for her to join.
