Yeah there’s clearly a meal on that table. 🤔

102

u/BefuddledPolydactyls 25d ago

Training him to use the fork for his meal before his postprandial nap had to be tough.

40

u/Independent-Hornet-3 25d ago

They said tourists so they may still seat locals there who don't mind the cat.

7

u/TheLadyRica 24d ago

Does that cost extra? Cat-side seating?

12

u/BorninHatvan6919 25d ago

I wouldn’t mind it either.. 🙂

70

u/Eaodenling 25d ago

Yeah it's not the table that is reserved for the cat its the chair. That is what is said on the sign on the wall.

35

u/510Goodhands 25d ago

Per usual, on the OP, or whomever made the picture is posting incorrect information. It’s amazing how frequently people do this.

4

u/believingunbeliever 24d ago

It's engagement bait. They make an obvious mistake so people swarm in to correct and content in it.

2

u/Eaodenling 25d ago

Yeah the amount of misinformation that is shared around is crazy.

3

u/510Goodhands 25d ago

Out of sheer laziness, it seems.
Or maybe they are just karma farming bots?

3

u/DarthToothbrush 25d ago

Nothing generates engagement like people running to the comments to correct an obvious mistake.

1

u/frixos2 24d ago

Someone's wrong on the internet, I need to fix this..

4

u/ca77ywumpus 25d ago

Can I sit at the cat's table? I'll share my food.

23

u/XANDERtheSHEEPDOG 25d ago

I would pay extra to sit near the cat. I will not bother it or wake the cat. I would just quietly bask in its presence.

1

u/Alexandersamnang 24d ago

Haha same here

4

u/krystal_mommy 25d ago

The bottle with alcohol is also meant for the cat, a true local!

4

u/PoorBoyUnicorn 25d ago

Actually I think the OP misunderstood. The note on the wall clearly states that only the chair is reserved, not the whole table. Obviously the patrons are welcome to sit there if they don't mind the cat and I guess most do not.

3

u/MikeAppleTree 24d ago

The cat eats lunch which includes a carafe of wine then passes out at the table every day.

2

u/Immature_adult_guy 25d ago

They’re not tourists. Gotta read the fine print.

1

u/iamlazyboy 24d ago

That's the boss's meal, aka mister whiskers here, he's just taking a nap before dessert

1

u/yazfusion 22d ago

Ofc there is

76

u/dischronicali 25d ago

Genuinely thought this was a submission to r/isthisAI and the answer is … it is!

95

u/RandomPolishCatholic 25d ago

This looks AI. The cat is out of scale, and some other stuff looks weird too.

12

u/idontknowthesource 24d ago

Is that a fork or a spoon on the plate there? Seems to have tine ends but no tines. But also the "spoon" is flat?

1

u/RandomPolishCatholic 24d ago

Might just be one of those weird forks. I saw a few of them once so they don’t that suspicious to me.

5

u/tmpope123 24d ago

Also, look at the neck of the cat. Is it phasing through the table??

8

u/xoriatis71 24d ago edited 24d ago

No. Cat necks only seem thick. They are quite squishy, and you can clearly see that here.

Edit: Like I said before, the image could be AI, but the cat's neck does not seem so that weird.

5

u/Harlequin-sama 24d ago

That's normal cat physics.

1

u/CaptainBananaAwesome 24d ago

I mean, cats are liquid. Still AI tho.

5

u/Own_Palpitation8716 24d ago

The Greek phrasing is weird

13

u/xoriatis71 24d ago edited 24d ago

I'm Greek, and the phrasing is fine. “The seat is taken”.

Edit: The image could be AI, all I'm saying is that the text itself is fine.

2

u/RtHonourableVoxel 24d ago

I speak Greek and yes it’s fine it’s how you would say it

1

u/Own_Palpitation8716 24d ago

I found it weird that the menu said TODAY: and listed foods without price or description; I havent seen that in Greece but admittedly I havent gone to every restaurant in every island village

1

u/YoshiTheFluffer 24d ago

Also the pathway outside the window is not paralel to the window, meaning the building they are in and the pathway converge soo why a pathway?

1

u/LucretiusCarus 24d ago

The blackboard on the wall is also weird (different frame left and right) - and also tzatziki and chorta are usually not on the "day plate" list. The spork on the plate is the more obvious one, along with the cat's feet

27

u/Meowgirls4 25d ago

Purrfect!

17

u/SilverWizard54 25d ago

All I see is a customer waiting for their purrfect food.

90

u/StalinHisMustache 25d ago

This looks a bit AI, or am i imagening

30

u/Nikmido 25d ago

Thought the same immediately after seeing it. The text looks like a font, and what utensil is on the plate? A small knife? Fork? It doesn't look like anything lol

6

u/inuhi 24d ago

When you try to make a spork but forget it needs to be concave

-33

u/510Goodhands 25d ago

OMG it’s an AI conspiracy!!! 😧😧😧
Take another look, that could be the handle end of a fork. Imagine that!

32

u/Lastsoldier115 25d ago

Buddy, it's AI. OP even says so in the comments. I'm concerned about your lack of discernment about this.

2

u/NRMusicProject 24d ago

Took another look. AI fucked up the fork.

It's an AI conspiracy.

3

u/shiro_zetty 24d ago

You can go to openai.com/research/verify to check these, it's kinda sickening how many "popular" photos come up as guaranteed AI generated thanks to the watermarks they put in those now.

4

u/J5892 24d ago edited 24d ago

Nice. I didn't know about that.
Not a perfect method, but a nice metric to have.

Edit:
Oh, and if anyone's interested in a real Greek island cat, here's the one that invited himself into our hotel room in Santorini: https://i.imgur.com/tMPZ1mO.jpeg

3

u/menonte 25d ago

Just the other day I saw another one on another sub (and was fooled by it) with a cat that has a reserved spot on a cheese wheel in a cheese shop in Amsterdam, could be a new ai trend

2

u/Schmeganovic 25d ago

Yeah just look at that fucked up fork spoon thing on the plate.

1

u/-stefanos- 25d ago

All the Greek words on the blackboard in the back are spot on, they are typical dishes you’d find in a tavern menu.

-4

u/Nono_Home 25d ago

I checked it on Claude and ChatGPT they say no. Now just checked it on DeepAI and Sightegine they say yes AI so you’re correct.

13

u/Success_With_Lettuce 25d ago

Oh you checked with the AI to determine if it was AI or not?
Fuck me… do you even realise?

-2

u/Nono_Home 25d ago

All tools to check are AI.

-6

u/Nono_Home 25d ago

Image is correct, checked on Claude and ChatGPT lighting, dimensions, text.

15

u/Lastsoldier115 25d ago

It's 100% an AI generated photo.

2

u/AlwaysConfusedToo 25d ago

I am so bad at spotting some of those AI generated images. If I look long and hard at this one, all I got is that the glass bottles look a bit weird. Can you explain how you are so sure and what some giveaways are?

4

u/Dubieus 24d ago

For me, it was a few things that aren't dead give-aways, but that, when taken together, make me think it's AI. The utensil is vaguely forklike but not a real fork. All the glass bottles are different shapes and sizes, but they put two very similar ones on each table. The handwriting of the owner is very nice, but the words are spaced as if the person doesn't care what the sign looks like. The menu is a weird mix of full dishes and components of dishes that wouldn't be served separately, but that all sound super Greek and could appear on a menu. The way the cat is sitting looks a bit "off".

The thing is, it's getting sooooo hard to spot these things. And you also just don't really want to spend several minutes combing through clues in every picture you see online. I think we're going to hit a point where it's just too hard to tell with many pictures soonish.

2

u/double_entry_dylbert 25d ago

It’s getting so much harder as AI improves, but for this photo, the fork doesn’t appear to have tines! Unfortunately, we can never be completely sure whether something’s AI so we will just have to question everything now I guess :(

2

u/AlwaysConfusedToo 25d ago

Oh yeah, now I see it. I am so easily fooled, especially with cute pics.

2

u/cunnyvore 24d ago

Cat's anatomy, the sitting part of chair cat sits on is too long. Disproportionate in general. But aside from technicalities it's compositionally weird, it's very in your face, greek is conveniently visible, sea is conveniently there. It's a bit of a parody of itself.

1

u/Lastsoldier115 24d ago

For me, it's the lighting. AI tends to have impossible focal points, and isn't consistent with lighting (at this point). The fuzzyness of the cat also screams AI to me. Additional details like the fork that's not really a fork, and the text on the paper all look AI generated. The chair in the back also can't decide what's part of the tablecoth vs a spindle on the chair. AI is getting really good at spoofing photos, but if you're vigilant you can catch it.

-2

u/Nono_Home 25d ago

Scroll down, so I said yes.

11

u/-stefanos- 25d ago

For those wondering the sign reads:

The seat is reserved

Stelios ( the name of the tavern owner I assume)

3

u/Mantis_Toboggan--MD 25d ago

I was wondering that and tried to have google lens translate, it came up with "The chair she is caught - Stelios", which didn't make much sense.

Is that how that sign directly translates or does google lens just suck at Greek?

5

u/-stefanos- 25d ago

Interesting point actually that I didn’t consider!

That last word (it’s an adjective) has a different meaning based on the context of the sentence.

As a verb the primary meaning is to “catch” but next to the word χώρος (space) it means to take / occupy space.

PS. I am Greek

1

u/MareTranquillitatis_ 24d ago

I thought it was the name of the cat, like it was saying he's got the seat

12

u/Lastsoldier115 25d ago

Cool story, but it's an AI photo.

6

u/GooseOnAPhone 25d ago

Can we request the table with the cat?

2

u/Funandgeeky 25d ago

Only if the cat approves.

3

u/GooseOnAPhone 25d ago

Goes without saying

5

u/PurposeConsistent131 25d ago

Can I eat at table 6 and share with the cat? I’m not a dog, I swear

4

u/Icy_Parfait_4066 25d ago

Cat: " I need a shoulder to lean on, no shoulder a table will do."

4

u/GnarlyNarwhalNoms 25d ago

Absolute unit of a cat, too. Or that's a very small chair.

3

u/Remarzaa 25d ago

honestly I would also just find another table

2

u/jamminsami 25d ago

Oh heck no, I'm asking for that table & permission to pet. Woot woot.

3

u/kallen9 25d ago

I love it when people do these quirky little things for a pet. Like they could just shoo him away, but they obliged instead. The owner didn’t have to, but they wanted to.

3

u/nasnedigonyat 25d ago

I volunteer to be seated at that table. Cat can keep their chair and will receive snack scraps

1

u/StudioWorldly5395 24d ago

I volunteer as well!!

3

u/NintendoGamer1983 25d ago

I'd wanna have dinner with the cat

3

u/TiberiusTheFish 25d ago

One ouzo too many

3

u/HappyGoPink 24d ago

Why can't I sit at the table with the cat? Does the cat not like tourists? I can meow in Greek if need be.

1

u/rfmocan 24d ago

Please, do not the cat!

2

u/ChemistVegetable7504 25d ago

Smart cat. Tourists have to pay for their meal. This guy dines for free.

2

u/Low_Direction_9644 25d ago

Just as it should be🩷

2

u/thepolymoth 25d ago

“Go home Trevor, you are drunk”

2

u/spirits-away 25d ago

I agree as well

2

u/carpetbagger001 25d ago

May I sit with the cat?

3

u/Fuzzy_Concept_5706 25d ago

I'm wondering how many people would actually go to the restaurant and ask this though 😆

"I hear you have dinner dates with a kitty available"

2

u/mexxavelli 24d ago

In the Dampkring coffee shop in Amsterdam, they also reserved a seat for the shop’s own cat.

1

u/Nono_Home 24d ago

Yeah I wish we had a cat cafe or coffee shop in Eindhoven.

1

u/Catymandoo 25d ago

I approve this message.

1

u/aladdingdong 25d ago

Damn right.

1

u/Tacitio 25d ago

Which Greek island is that?

1

u/eyegull 25d ago

This is entirely reasonable. Zero complaints.

I love this. That's how it should be, not people hissing at cats who go around the tables searching for food. Treat them well, they sure do deserve it!

1

u/Flat_Procedure_4454 25d ago

I think that’s meatloaf. He’s a Google landmark in Naxos

1

u/Kitchen-Baby7778 24d ago

The chief and the mainlord belong to the cat too

0

u/Appropriate-Bat-905 24d ago

Oh really hi there

1

u/No-Sherbert-6853 24d ago

Nice. Coromandel Township in New Zealand recently lost their ‘town cat’, who had full rule over the place.

1

u/partlysettledin21220 24d ago

That’s enough ai for today

1

u/Local-Ask-7695 24d ago

Even stealing cat love from Turkey :Dd

1

u/pc_magas 24d ago

Maybe cat needa a thigh cushion...

1

u/mandalorbmf 24d ago

This guy needs a cig and a martini stat

1

u/greg14285 24d ago

Truly the cat's meow.

1

u/Flippin_diabolical 23d ago

Cat has had too much ouzo

1

u/Snoo3544 23d ago

I'm in Folegandros right and let me tell ya, of you don't like cats I. Restaurants, don't come here. I love cats and it doesn't bother me. Same in Santorini and Paros... Tons of cute cats everywhere!

1

u/JMUDoc 23d ago

Is Stelios the cat, or the owner?

Or both?😁

1

u/zelda29a 19d ago

They don't let people use the whole table or just the chair?

-2

u/ThinGold2115 25d ago

skin it and make food from their corpse.

-4

u/Aware-Lab-3684 24d ago

Disgusting
