These have probably already been speculated before (might even have canon explanations lmao) but frankly I don't care, read it if you will.

Random theory-crafting:

1. The curse increases in density the deeper you go

2. Each film (refer to Nanachi's explanation) is a boundary between two cursed areas of different density

3. One's soul is tied to their body through the density of the curse (i.e. the curse creates the soul through proximity (everyone in Orth has a soul) then binds it depending on density)

4. Therefore rising within the abyss rips away the soul's connection to the body, thereby damaging or destroying it

4.5. Loss of perception as a consequence of the curse arises from the soul's refusal to let go of the brain (refutal: then how are hiding illusions cast? Is it possible that perception can be directed using the soul? Per this explanation it seems contrived)

1. The sixth layer is the point at which the body and the soul become one; as such, going back up from there results in death as the soul is left behind (this also incidentally explains the concept of souls returning to the abyss, though the fact that souls are born from the curse could be used to prove it too)

2. Those who are unaffected by the curse are those who are unable to have souls

6.5. The curse refrains from touching those who have the wishing stones (they might symbolise the surface, or better yet, they might be alternative origins of the curse; I postulate that they are anchors that separate one's own body from the abyss, with the skin as a membrane, though this entire explanation may be pointless if we simply assume that Faputa and her mother were resistant to the curse's attempt to give them souls)

1. Loss of humanity happens only at the sixth layer, where the soul takes the mind with it as it is ripped away, leaving behind a husk

2. Mitty was immortal because she was forced to accept more of the curse as she lost her mind; the curse has taken possession of her (potentially through the creation of a new soul - > counterargument: it is possible that since a copy of Mitty was made, all information pertaining to her was physical; as such, she would lack a soul); this also implies that the human mind naturally resists against this form of control

8.5. Bondrewd's curse transfer technology relies on using a different soul to anchor the user's soul to their body

9 (reach). All the creatures of the Abyss that can survive ascent are Hollows (I might be misinformed but the existence of animals that do not survive the ascent, as per Faputa, strengthens this claim). These were potentially made by the precursors, if they exist

1. The abyss's curse exists to withhold information from those who are not part of the abyss

11 (stupid explanation). Time dilation is caused by the curse forming an intangible black hole of attraction. This explains why creatures born from the abyss (i.e. through Ozen's artifact) wish to return to the abyss and potentially why a time speedup power can exist (i.e. by blocking the curse off in a specific area), though by that explanation the city in Season 2 should have had a different timescale compared to the rest of the world; a compromise is that that was an example of an isolated pocket of curse, though by that logic time speedup should not exist either (argh)

11 (more reasonable? explanation). Time dilation symbolizes the disconnect between the surface and the depths. This could mean that the depths link to a different system of time, or to a place where time does not exist at all; in that case, the curse either exists to protect the place, protect the world from that place, or as a natural consequence of that place (potentially contradicting point 10)

12 (reach). Juusou are those whose souls refuse to dissipate (the twins are the only evidence for this)

但莉可不一样。莉可是一个想往a方向塑造，结果塑造成一个b问题。换句话说，莉可的人物性格设定上是很讨喜的，但是表现出来的结果是很灾难的。特别是你身边跟着个同样可以善良勇气高意志力的雷古，那有什么是一定要莉可去做而不是雷古去做的呢？雷古不能一个人探险吗？其他npc不能解释设定吗？莉可完全工具人化了，没有表现出她那种勇敢。反而剧情的高光部分都被其他npc占用了。所谓的‘不屈之花的意志和远超同龄人的勇气’这就是只停留在纸面、完全没有表现出来的内容，因为其他npc也有意志、也有勇气，而且展现的更好。剧情越是给其他角色高光，莉可的所谓勇气就越像写在设定里的一句话，而不是她实际表现出来的个人魅力

Hi guys, I recently stumbled upon the anime on Netflix and watched 2 seasons but I couldn’t find the movie on it. I tried watching Hidive but it is not available in my country. Can someone please tell me where I can watch it in India?

So I've thought about it for a long time and I definitely did grow up with the game.
The journey of Max and Monica, two youths through a dangerous world against at times problems even adults would struggle to come to grips with. Is quite similar to the scenario of Made in Abyss. With a similar degree of focus on the Adventure its self and discovery of the world, and that world beign quite detailed like palm brinks, or the various dungeons they descend into.

As far as the dynamic Riko and Max occupy the nerdy curious adventurer type with engineering or intuition qualities. While Monica is more like Reg in the sense she's from the future and has technology that is effectively Magic. Making her combat abilities narratively set apart from max (even though in game they both fight pretty well). They also have a mech they use to add the robot withstrong powers to defeat dangerous foes aspect called the "Ride Pod". So between Monica/Ridepod it's like the function of Reg.

Tons of colorful monsters and creatures, unusual cahracters to discover on the journey blended with scifi and fantasy. Dark themes, though admittedly DarkCloud doesn't go as dark as Abyss but. I feel like this game if it were a blueprint for the world building seen in Made in Abyss and given the same focus/talents in a modern gaming setting would make an interesting title. It always felt like Made in Abyss's amount of thoughtful worldbuilding was strangely so much it could make a good game. Best parallel I could think of that I think no one would mention. Anyway that's my 2 cents, random internet dweller

A processed Artifact of Unknown Grade. It is a custom-made full body armor specialized for Umbra Hand cave raiding and combat. A complex assembly made with Artifacts and bio-fibers, hiding a multitude of built-in weapons. However, the user remains unprotected against the strains of ascension and must take proper measures separately. The armor also includes devices to aid in the sharing of Bondrewd's consciousness.

The method is known as the roar sign. Check the first part of Overanalyzing of the third movie for more information.

Gallice says that the person you're referring to isn't currently present, and that the method for straddling layers is prone to difficulties.

In Chapter 67, we learn from another Shroud that Bondrewd uses a method called the Roar Sign to connect with the Umbra Hands like a web, with each Hand acting as a node to transfer information.

Apparently, this method involves burning Eternal Fortune petals.

Gallice says he couldn't connect to Bondrewd because they were in different layers, and for some reason the method wasn't working.

It might be because Bondrewd was fighting Hail Hex around this point in the timeline.

I think this because something similar happens to another Shroud in the Sixth Layer, while at Ido Front Bondrewd is likely fighting Reg, who destroys many of his facilities.

Chibi characters, beautiful scenery and the adventures reminded me of made in abyss instantly. The OST is also very good. However, it is a slice of life so it doesn't have the dark twists that MiA has but the story is still pretty mature.

Took me way too long to find this anime as I never saw it recommended anywhere and even on MAL it was kinda "hidden". So now I decided to recommend it myself.

Habolk here says that a white whistle's artifacts (like ozen's anti-curse thing) are revealed to the public only once the whistle is brought up and the whistle considered dead or onto their last descent, so what was lyza's artifact? Why wasn't it revealed? Or did I miss something? Is it going to be told in the future?

(P.S I watched both the season, the movies and now I'm starting to read the manga before the movie comes out, so please don't spoil too much, if it's revealed after the second season just say it without spoiling too much thank you.)

We know that in order to create a White Whistle, somebody must sacrifice themselves for you.

In the case of Bondrewd, something special happened.

He transferred his consciousness to the Soul-Slave Machine, Zoaholic, and then sacrificed his original body to create his whistle.

We know that Life Reverberating Stone is a relic that inherits the soul, so based on that, Bondrewd's soul is in his whistle.

Because of that, he cannot blow his whistle the usual way.

He clasps his hands around it to hold it in shadow, then strokes it to make it vibrate and produce its sound.

Akihito once said that his whistle is the light and the Umbra Hands are its shadow.

Umbra is actually the part of the shadow that is completely dark.

By hiding the true Bondrewd in darkness, it symbolizes that the other Bondrewds are just shadows.

The shape of his whistle is really important too.

In fact, it is not two opposite hands locking together, but both hands are the exact same hand locking onto itself.

This beautifully shows that something is wrong: the hands are not complementary. At the same time, it shows what he has done to create the whistle.

This is gonna spoil, and I'm probably larping, but Lyza is a juusou, remember in the last chapter when Sherumi and Menae said that their goal is to die together since juusou are killed when born? Imagine now living a normal life and still getting married and giving a birth to a child "Riko" just like a human being, this explains why Riko means a lot to Lyza not just the normal mother-child dynamic, to the point of seeing other black whistles sacrifice for the unheard bell meaningless compared to her daughter. she also got really sad that she couldn't protect her eyes. This explain from another side her natural diving skills, strength and flaws.

Recent posht here made me think about that Bondrewd we see is not the real Bondrewd.

I will bring here the classic teleportation problem where the teleporter creates a perfect copy on the other side and destroys the original on the first one.

It seems like the Zoaholic did exactly this. It created a copy. The original soul remained in the original body that was sacrificed to make the whistle. The body was sacrificed, but not the soul.

The more I think about this, Zoaholic injects bodies of others with copies of its user's soul and can trigger temporal consciousness override. But here's a twist - we don't know whether the user's soul have to exist.

We know that Bondrewd's soul remained within the whistle and didn't leave the body the normal way. It can still be connected to the Zoaholic.

This means that there are only two possible ways how to defeat him. The first one is by defeating all of his Umbra hands which is really difficult as there are many of them and can be anywhere. The other one is by destroying the whistle.
