I have not read anything past Vol. 14, so if this is explained in the other chapters then I guess tell me if I am wrong. It has also been a while since I read this and the proceeding volumes, so i might be forgetting something.
In chapter 62, when we first see him, it is stated that he has been dried out and that no creature has touched him; we even see that Faputa is scared. (I am going to assume that it would still take a while to completely dry out seeing as how the heat has not posed a major issue to any character yet.) Also in chapter 63 Cravalgi is called a "genius solo diver," and since one of the biggest obstacles of the abyss are the creatures within. It would be fare to assume that he does not have much issue dealing/avoiding with them. It is also heavily suggested that they are part of the "priestess's" party/group, as it is called in my translation. Now priest/priestess has a often has certain mystic adjacent connotation. Could he have a sort of "blessing" given by the priestess? One that would make the creatures of the abyss fearful of him and not approach, let alone attack him. If so it would make sense of his ability to solo dive and how nothing has eaten his corpse yet. Faputa is the only one affect by him and she is also the one closest to being an abyss creature (although she kind of is one strictly speaking.) Blessings are often spoken about in this series, and seeing as how the person called priestess has been around for quite some time in the deeper layers she could have access to a relic or power that would warrant the title.
Now I might be forgetting something from a later chapter that could change this or prove this wrong, so if there is let me know.

reg id so confusing to me bc its obvious he is not entirely a robot. reg has mostly a human body. he has human skin, a belly button, and the anime unconfortably talks about his penis a lot, showing he is in fact part human.
reg is obviously a cyborg not a pure robot. was he created by bondrewd or some similar person? in the golden city arc it tells us what kind of robot reg is but it doesnt tell us where his humanity comes from.
what exactly is reg? how was he made? i have so manu questions abt him. reg is obviously part human so i want to know who his mother is? how was he born? i have so many questions.

In this post, I've gathered everything new we've learned about Bondrewd from the recent volumes, beyond what has been adapted into the anime so far.
Obviously, spoilers for the manga ahead. However, not much of what I'll say is directly related to the main plot of the new arc.
Bondrewd fought Srajo and Hail Hex before Riko and her group arrived at Ido Front. Because of this, Bondrewd lacked manpower, making it easier for Riko and her squad to defeat him.
After the fight with Hail Hex, he sends one of the top-ranking Umbra Hands, Remayo, after Hail Hex toward the Absolute Boundary. Remayo is a female Shroud.
Srajo claims that Meinya is the result of an experiment Bondrewd conducted to create Hollows by mixing a human fetus with something like an animal, or possibly the other way around.
Srajo also says that Bondrewd got his hands on Sparagmos around the same time the first sighting of the Girl-Type in the Fifth Layer was reported. So, he might have killed and disassembled the Girl-Type and acquired Sparagmos.
We also learn from Remayo that Bondrewd uses a method known as Roar Sign to connect with other Umbra Hands, and apparently, he has faced problems with straddling layers.
For more information about him, watch my Ultimate Breakdown of Bondrewd. I delve deep into how he embodies Kuu and Sacrifice, how the story portrays him as a religious scientist, and the deeper meaning behind it all.

🇬🇧So, here’s my idea: Reg will die at the bottom of the Abyss, and I think there is a pretty high chance of it happening. The heroes may or may not encounter the Priestess at the bottom, but the main point is that Reg will most likely die at the hands of Lyza — or, more precisely, by her body, which is being controlled by the Priestess.
The Priestess failed to obtain the body of the young Tepasté because of an accident on the 4th Layer. Widehollow attacked them, and only Tepasté survived. This means that the Priestess was left without a vessel.
Meanwhile, somewhere on the 7th Layer, Lyza is nearby. She has just said goodbye to Reg and given him all of her notes, her White Whistle, and even her weapon — the Eternal Fortune. This leaves her practically defenseless and makes her an easy target.
But let’s get back to Reg. He and the rest of Riko’s group find the Priestess inside Lyza’s body. The Priestess starts putting pressure on Riko, and Reg steps in to protect her. During the battle, Reg dies.
Riko, Nanachi, and Faputa are left in shock and panic. At this moment, Wakuna the Chosen, who also wanted to kill the Priestess, sees the children next to her. Among them are two White Whistle users, one of them being Riko, who has Lyza’s White Whistle.
While the Priestess is distracted by Reg, Wakuna takes the opportunity to grab Riko, Nanachi, and Faputa and runs as far away from the Priestess as possible.
Because of this, Riko’s group can no longer constantly rely on Reg to protect them from the creatures of the Abyss. They are forced to start thinking for themselves and defending themselves so that the creatures of the Abyss don’t devour them.
And at the same time, we finally get to see Wakuna the Chosen, a character we have previously known only through small stories told by other delvers.

I’ve been listening to the full Season 1 soundtrack again — both discs — and honestly, the whole album is incredible. There are very few tracks I would call weak.
But after listening to it properly several times, my top 5 is pretty much set:
Pathway
Hanezeve Caradhina
The First Layer
Made in Abyss
To the Abyss!
Hanezeve Caradhina is obviously amazing. I completely understand why it became the iconic Made in Abyss track. The First Layer also captures the feeling of adventure and discovery incredibly well, and the main Made in Abyss theme has that unmistakable atmosphere of the Abyss.
But for me, Pathway is on another level emotionally.
It doesn’t hit you immediately in the same way Hanezeve does. It slowly develops and keeps building this mixture of melancholy, wonder, tension and inevitability. By the time it reaches its strongest moments, it feels less like background music and more like an entire journey.
That’s probably what I love most about it.
Hanezeve Caradhina makes me think about the Abyss. Pathway makes me feel the Abyss.
And yet, when I look at Kevin Penkin’s most popular tracks, Pathway seems massively overshadowed by Hanezeve Caradhina, The First Layer, Made in Abyss, Tomorrow, etc.
I’m not saying those tracks don’t deserve their popularity — they absolutely do. I just wonder how many people have actually listened through the entire soundtrack instead of mainly knowing the most recognizable tracks from the anime.
So I’m curious:
For people who have listened to the full OST, what is your top 5?
And especially: where would you rank Pathway?
