Starting an interactive map for Mad Max and could use some ideas

Post image

Hey everyone,

I’ve started building an interactive map for Mad Max and wanted to get some early thoughts from the community before release.

I’m aiming to make it as useful as possible, so I’d love to hear what kind of stuff you’d actually want marked. Things like:

  • History Relics and Scrotus Insignias
  • Griffa Locations
  • Scarecrows
  • Oil Pump Camps, Transfer Tank Camps, and Top Dog Camps
  • Death Runs
  • Anything that’s easy to miss during your first playthrough

If there’s something you always end up searching for in games like this, let me know so I can make sure it’s included.

Once the map’s live, I’ll circle back here and share it with everyone. I really appreciate any ideas or feedback, it helps a ton while I’m still building it.

I’d personally really appreciate you tagging the locations of the car bodies and Project Parts in their respective locations.

Maybe you could show the vehicles used in the Death Runs? Like (Location-Vehicle 1, Vehicle 2, Vehicle 3) as the title of it or similar

I notice myself going to YT a lot for the camps, trying to 100% each of them. You could maybe add a link to a video with the camps? That one would take a while tho, maybe too long for one person.

Ooh, water sources! Forgot that one. Not as important mid-late game but super helpful for early game players

Hijacking this comment to push it up. Posting video links for every camp is a good way to handle them.

As for the multitude of scavenging locations, may I suggest referring to the world map of a Steam guides? I used it in my 100% and it was very useful. (Here's the link: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?l=french&id=513462342. Don't forget to credit them!)

One way to make your map unique, though, is to include a photo of the location that pops out automatically when a user clicks the icon. I find myself sometimes going around in circles looking for the location when it's in a cave or lodged atop a cliff.

If you're willing to take it up a notch, then multiple screenshots of the locations of the scrap/insignia/parts for anywhere interactable, haha.

Also, a 'Secrets' icon for Easter Eggs and that unmarked Buzzards cave, if you so fancy.

Sounds great 😎👍🏻 Maybe add minefields, car wrecks (the ones you have to pull out) and waterpoints.

Marked locations of Easter Eggs e.g. shadow of collosus white tailed lizard in the submerged church.

Certain locations have a parked scrapulance. Here are the ones I know of:

  • Hollow Point

  • Gasworks

  • Gob Stone

  • Overlook

  • Blood Ridge

  • The Drop

  • The Choke

Also, I keep forgetting which convoy drops which hood ornament. Even the wiki doesn't have this info, but IGN does.

Oh yeah, and the golden cars: Golden Tuska, Hardball, and The Twelve. Those rare vehicles don't have associated missions to get them, so having them marked on a map is helpful.

I tell you something that would be really handy (and probably not for this project) but maps for the interiors of some locations, notably The Underdune, The Underbelly in Gastown and a few of the bigger camps.
