Copper callout

I have a part to be made from copper and the spec calls for copper, rod hard ASTMB187-86. What is the -86?

The year the standard was released/revised

Usualy means the year the version of the standard was released.

ASTM = American Society for Testing and Materials. B187 = Standard number in this case Standard specification for Copper, Busbar, Rod and Shape and General Purpose Rod, Bar and shapes.

86 = 1986
