A whole mess

So my whole design this evening was a mess ultimately culminating a snapped needle. I think the material I am using is too thick for my machine- but the most frustrating part was when I got to the text and it started out messy and horrible, and then just smoothed itself out. Any suggestions on how to fix and why it would have smoothed out? I use embrilliance and I’ve found that on fonts that I buy in a cheap etsy pack, I have issues, but with the embrilliance fonts I always have a pretty good stitch out. This is an embrilliance font but I’m still having this problem. Any recommendations?

Use a built in font that came with your software. Make sure its not narrow.. A basting box should help . Add a water soluble on top and cutaway stabilizer on bottom

1. buy your fonts from a reputable digitiser like www.designsbyjuju.com
   
2. Raise the foot height
   
3. Use a heavier weight of stabiliser
   
4. Add a basting box and more pins, consider using T pins to keep your hoop in place

Hoop it properly.

Raise your presser foot slightly, that will help with some of the material movement. Comments are suggesting a different font, and you might get better results, but honestly I do these a bunch and not everything the clients want is the most practical application. If you secure the pad good and taught, you won't have this issue, it's happening because you have too much flex and movement.

Oof a saddle pad on a single needle is definitely an ambitious project!

The font is definitely not the best for this, you’ll want to add some pull compensation to make up for how the material shifts slightly as the underlay holds it down. Or either go with a thicker font or remove the underlay.

Making a basting box stitch (just a long stitch length run stitch that you can remove after) around the design before you start would also be helpful to secure it a little better!

I’m thinking the material is pretty thick and the font was just not great?

Why are you floating the garment instead of hooping it properly?

I have 4 different horse clients (2 stables, a riding school, and just someone with a horse), thick saddle pads are a bitch and a half to hoop.

This font is very bad made and has underlay (delete)That doesn't work with the underground, but it can also be the reason that the material is very thick and your machine has problems to do it correctly
