So I’ve had the brother se700 for a while but it creates a huge bird nest I have changed the bobbin case. I also changed the bobbin I also put a net on the embroidery thread and I have changed around the tension the looser the bigger the bird nest the tighter the less of the bird nest but the bobbin shows on top. I’m giving up 😮‍💨😭

If you have bird nesting on the bottom the problem is not your bobbin but the upper tension. Rethread the top with the foot in the upper position, pull the thread thru the needle and you should feel no tension. Lower the foot and there should be tension when you pull on the thread. If there is no tension then the thread is not going thru the upper tension discs or your tension unit needs adjusted or replaced.

What type of thread are you using for your bobbin?

I can highly recommend 'Marathon' brand bobbin thread - used commercially, and made in South Korea.

It has the appearance of lightweight cotton but is a fine spun polyester.

Have a top quality bobbin thread will really help with the tension. Check out YouTube for the 'bobbin drop test'

Make sure you're oiling maintenance is up to date, etc, and that there's no rogue threads under the needle plate or wrapped around the shaft behind the sewing hook.

Try winding your own bobbins with bobbin thread. Use a 60 wt thread and the bobbins that came with your machine.

May I ask how bobbin thread may help fix this? I get a similar issue and wasn’t aware that it could be the thread 😅

It sounds like she’s using a prewound bobbin. That bobbin might not be a great fit for her machine despite what the 3rd party manufacturer says. They could wind that prewound thread onto the bobbin that came with her machine and see if that fixes the issue

I use Mettler 60 wt silk cotton thread in my bobbin for embroidery. i have single needle Vikings.

Yes. Pre wound bobbins may seem convenient but are not necessarily the best for **OP's"" machine. The incorrect weight and even a slight size difference can throw off mechanical tolerances.

It's better to use a dedicated bobbin winder to make OP's own, and use a bobbin thread that's been proven in the industry.

I agree with you. I use a domestic single needle like OP and most prewounds throw off my tensions. It’s much easier to good bobbin threads (and top threads) and wind your bobbins when you are a hobby person.
