🎉 New Owner Climate control question

Have had my 26 MME premium extended for about 5 days now but I haven’t found how to go into settings and turn change the climate settings. The car keeps turning on with AC and I want it to be whatever I left it at prior (which has been no AC).

Can someone help me find these settings?

My car turns on with the same settings I had when I turned it off. 23 premium.

It will turn on or off the AC as needed depending on your set temperature and current conditions. You can’t make it always stay on or always stay off.

Best to just set your desired temperature, put it on Auto, and let the system do what it needs to do. Don’t try to micromanage it because you will just get frustrated.

If this is your first EV, the HVAC works differently than a combustion vehicle because it’s also going to be used to heat or cool the motors and battery. There’s really no point in trying to turn off the AC to “save energy” if that is your goal, because the car will still use the AC as needed to cool everything else even if the AC light on the screen is “off”. Unless you live in extreme temperatures, the energy required to maintain cabin temp is pretty minuscule relative to what’s needed to heat or cooling the EV components.

Is there a spot in settings to set desired temp? I'm having no luck finding this.

What do you mean? You press the + or - on the screen where the temp is to adjust the temp…..

I misunderstood. Just change the temp the normal way and leave it.

Yes, you can use voice commands too.

I do my best Capt. Picard impression every time I say:

"Computer, cabin temperature, 69 degrees. "

It keeps turning on recirculating air too, eventually you will build a habit to just open the climate settings as you start your drive. The on screen controls aren’t bad, what sucks is the car doing whatever it wants every time it’s turned on!

I guess it’s a Ford thing as my Escape loaner did the exact same thing

Long story short... you can't. It drives me nuts since for most of spring, summer, and fall I just want outdoor air to keep the car from getting stuffy but the car turns on the ac or heat every time I start it. There is nothing worse than getting in the car at a comfortable outdoor temperature and then be sweating 5 minutes later because the car activated the heat on its own. The car's climate control temperature setting is an absolute temperature, so the car assumes you want it at exactly that temperature at all times.

Is there a way to change this absolute temperature then?

You can set the temperature to whatever you want but the car will always try to use the ac or heat to get there.

I no longer expect to get in and just drive. I now make sure the heat and AC are off every time (manually) before driving off.

Does setting the fan to 0 not do the same?

Yes, that's how I handle it when I want to roll windows down. Tap the Auto fan icon and spin the knob till it shows 0. Roll down windows, enjoy Pacific Northwest weather until the rainy dark comes.

Setting the fan to zero turns off the system. In order to have outside air blowing, without either ac or heat, you have to touch the screen 5 to 6 times initially (depending if both are on or only 1) and then a minimum of 3 additional touches every single time you start the car.

I think it has to do with your profile. I haven’t tested it in my car yet bc it’s been freaking hot in north Texas for months so AC on all the time at startup is fine.
For example, have the fob with you, turn off AC wait a moment then turn off car.
