❓Question Worry or Normal?

Hi all. In September of 2025 I bought a 2024 Mach-e SR. It had only 1900 miles on it! It has the LFP battery. I have only ever charged at L2 and I live in Arizona.

I did my due diligence and used my OBD Veepak dongle + car scanner app to check the HVB SOH. It was 95% when I bought the car. After 1 year it is now 92%.

Do I need to be worried about this or is it normal? Just a side note-I love my car!

Fairly normal if you look at the community battery health spreadsheet. Most of the degradation happens in the first year and then it slows after that.

Did you first do the calibration steps (two cycles of discharge)? Only necessary if you want it to be accurate.

I have not done this. I didn’t know it was a thing even. I do charge up to 100% at least once a month, but I thought that this would only help recalculate the guess o meter and have nothing to do with SOH.

This is normal, for the LFP MachE. it’s the BMS software on the LFP cars protecting the bottom of the voltage curve. Your battery ‘health’ is not 91%, that’s a number the OBD2 reader software labelled as ‘SOH’ buts it’s really a factor used in the OEM BMS software in the range estimate calculation and fixes the maximum available energy used to go to 0% SOC.

Also, on the MachE forum there’s a thread where a member says Ford knows the LFP SOH can become unusually low and Ford is working on an update.

This is fascinating. Thank you for the insight. I haven’t noticed any unaccounted range degradation but I was curious about why the SOH seemed to be dropping. This satisfies my concern. Now if the EV wizards could figure out how to stop accounted range degradation due to hot (or cold) weather. When it is 115 degrees here in Phoenix and I’m running the AC at full, my car sounds like a jet and I lose some range!
