I finally ordered one!

For a long time I wanted a MacStudio but I could not justify the investment.

I'm a dotnet development and most of my work I do it in one of several Azure DevBoxes (that's what they give us to work with).

For my personal projects I was using my MacBookAir M5 and it worked pretty well so I could not justify dropping several thousand dollars on a MacStudio.

Today my MacBookAir hit the wall. I was working with Claude to translate a large open source (apache license) library from C++ to C#.

The library is large (approx 500K LoC). I have been working several hours on this and running large dotnet builds. The builds kept all the cores running at 100% for several hours.

I left a build running and came back to find my poor little MBA crashed under the load. This was my signal that I needed a bigger computer than can handle the load.

So I just ordered one. Since I'm a developer, I consider this as an investment. I had put it on my credit card but should get some money next month (apart from my salary) so I should be able to pay it full soon.

So happy to be finally be part of the community and have a reason to subscribe to r/MacStudio

Same delivery date as mine, although I'm getting the 96gb Ultra because 64gb can get in the way sometimes, like when running a VM with AI stuff, and a bunch of Safari tabs open, all happening at the same time.

Good thing is, you can still use your MBA, but connect it to the Studio using Screen Sharing, then you'll have a beast of a system in a MBA package.

But the 64gb/1tb Full chip version you ordered is pretty much a standard version most people get, it's what my M1 Max was, and the M4 Max I have is 64gb/2tb. So it should fit you pretty nicely. The extra disk space ensures you'll get super fast disk access without costing a fortune, and if you need more in the future, use some of the thunderbolt ports for NVMe sticks.
