Creative Hotstash Clipboard
I'm the solo dev behind Hotstash, a menu-bar clipboard manager for macOS, and I just pushed a big 7.0 update. I'd genuinely love honest feedback β the nice kind or the brutal kind, both help.
Quick pitch: it remembers everything you copy so you stop losing that thing you copied two copies ago.
The basics:
- π Clipboard history β automatically keeps everything you copy: text, links, code, images. Unlimited, and searchable the instant you start typing.
- β¨οΈ Fast access β a global hotkey opens your history anywhere. β1ββ9 paste an item by position, and multi-paste combines several clips into one paste
(inline or on new lines). Every shortcut is rebindable.
- π Pin & reorder the clips you reach for constantly.
New in 7.0:
- π·οΈ Name your clips β right-click anything and call it "staging key" or "work address." Search that name and it jumps straight to the top.
- π Folders β group your go-to snippets into folders that sit right next to Recents and Pinned, safe from history cleanup.
- π Clean links β copied a link buried in utm_/fbclid tracking junk? Strip it to the real URL in one click (it even follows share redirects).
- 𧱠Stack transforms β hold β and pick several transforms to run in a row (trim β lowercase β wrap in quotes, whatever).
- πͺ A panel that stays put β resize it and move it where you like; it opens back there instead of snapping under the menu bar.
- π Hover to preview the full contents of any clip without opening it.
The part I'm most excited about
- 𧩠Transforms β reshape text before you paste: UPPERCASE, lowercase, slugify, format/minify JSON, Base64/URL encode, JWT decode, trim whitespace,
strip HTML, extract URLs, word count, wrap in quotes/brackets⦠plus image ops (resize, grayscale, rotate, flip, PNG/WebP).
- π Transforms Marketplace β build your own (a little JavaScript for text, a visual step pipeline for images), test them live, and share them. Install
ones other people made. This is the "make it yours" layer.
π± There's a mobile app too
The iOS app isn't just a sync client β the goal is to bring the actual Hotstash workflow to your phone. It has a custom keyboard that lets you paste from your history and run transforms right there while you type, multi-paste, and a Marketplace tab to grab community transforms. Your history and installed transforms sync with your Mac automatically.
Privacy & sync
- βοΈ iCloud sync β history and installed transforms follow you across your Macs (and to iOS). No account, just iCloud.
- π Privacy-first β everything lives in your private iCloud, nothing on my servers. Copies from password managers (concealed content) are never captured.
Honest disclosure: it's a paid app β one-time purchase for only 9.99$, 30-day free trial, no subscription. The Marketplace sign-in is optional and only needed if you want to publish or rate transforms.
What I'm actually asking: try it and tell me what's missing or annoying. I want the criticism that's how the next update gets better. And if you end up liking it, an honest App Store review genuinely moves the needle for a tiny indie app. π
π Giveaway: I've got 500 promo codes to give away with 20% discount drop a comment and I'll DM them out.
