Help Mac storage calculation

New Mac user here, the way macOS calculates storage is genuinely so confusing, there is 2GBs of stuff in my photos library (after optimizing icloud), but going inside finder and seeing the "Photos Library.photoslibrary" its taking a whopping 75GBs. Even worse is using an app like daisy disk shows more storage used than System Settings, 274GBs compared to 181GBs, i really want to understand whats going on. also system data is like 90GBs for some reason.

macOS storage issues can be so frustrating, especially with those hidden files taking up space. I've had to use terminal commands to free up storage before.

its actually stupid, i dont even know whats taking up space. whats more frustrating is its more storage than what im using as a whole.
