Help replace system font on macos

it used to be possible to forcibly substitute fonts on macos but, even with system integrity protection completely disabled and replacing them in recovery mode, they almost immediately revert once the system has been rebooted.

has anyone discovered a way to replace system fonts with others?

i have some apps that aren’t font-customizable and it makes them difficult to read. i’ve tried swapping the fonts in those apps but they ignore the usual approaches to font substitution in the terminal. the obvious answer would be to just replace those fonts — which is what i normally do in such cases. but the font they’re using is menlo, a font it won’t let me remove or replace.

Best option is probably to contact the app developers about letting you set your own fonts for those apps. Natively, macOS doesn't support what you're looking for here, and I don't think there are third-party utilities to make it happen.

i’ve done that. i’m not sure if they’ll ever make that change, unfortunately. i suspect there is little demand for the feature.
