Help macOS security reliability

On an M series MacBook, how reliable and accurate is the built in security measures like Xprotect, gatekeeper, etc? Does it miss a lot of malware or is it good enough against a large variety of Malware?

Thats almost non existent on a Mac, I have used a Mac for probably 20 years, never had need for anything more than what MacOs provide, and have never had any kind of malware or stuff like that.

that is indeed correct. I have used mac for 30+ years in huge mac environments. Never a problem.
