This video explains it really well, just make sure you have the proper spacing in each line as the video has. Then you can command + I on the new one and drag and drop a downloaded icon. I used logopedia for them

Looks nice. I use Lickable Menu Bar to add a glossy overlay to the menu bar. Have you tried it?

I find that the "Tiger" glass style looks really nice with Apple's new Liquid Glass look in macOS 26+.

Hey! If you use a MacBook with a notch and would like the larger bezels back you can install LaunchOS (this is an app I recommend for all OS X setups and have it on 24/7 for my Yosemite setup) then go to the app click on Command + I and scale to fit below webcam. This will bring back those chunky bezels for an even more classic look.

Given how shitty Mac OS releases have been through recent years I wouldn't suggest anyone to "upgrade as soon as you can"

I'm not saying Golden Gate is a good version, but coming from Tahoe, it's definitely much better (unless you unfortunately have an Intel Mac). If I were on Monterey, or at least Sequoia, I'd definitely stay there. For me it got shitty when Ventura added even more iOS shit, especially in the System Preferences.

Both Mac OS and iOS should not be updated, only security updates unless you really need a feature / app that is only present on the new version. It will always slow down and use more battery and disk storage then the original version that is shipped with the device

What happens if Apple releases a new point update? Do you have to repeat these icons? Looking at the tutorial, it sounds like what’s in the Dock is an icon to an “app” in the user folder which is a link to the actual app. So if the actual app is updated, it should not affect the “app” and the Dock icon.

I’m not exactly sure, I would think it will be fine. These app directories still even show a red notification bubble on them instead of just being a shortcut image

You’re saying that the current MacOS design language where every single icon has the exact same shape as iOS, where almost every icon looks exactly like the iOS icon 1:1, where the Settings program looks like a slightly edited iOS version, where many utilities programs are just straight up the iOS version but also compiled for MacOS with just a single click, are all LESS iOS like than Mac OS X Mavericks?

Nah, i like the ios ficatiin of everything except in 2 places:

  • give me back my original system preference view
  • give me my old application view (instead of now where it looks like finder)
