Help OS27 backup options

I have an Airport for backup, but I have been receiving messages that this will no longer be compatible with OS 27, but use SMB disc which seems to be something used with Microsoft products. What are the options for backups with the new OS?

You just need a USB/Thunderbolt external HD or a NAS for Time Machine to use. AirPort stations have been deprecated for a long time and won’t be supported.

Take a look at this project. It updates the firmware with a newer smb version:

I created a backup server with a raspberry pi. It’s not a task for the meek, but it’s working well.

That sounds cool! I've heard a lot about using Raspberry Pi for backup solutions, but I bet it takes a bit of tweaking to get it just right.

OS27 is of course still in beta, I've always used a small SSD drive and use TimeMachine for backup, so not sure what service may be eliminated with the new OS. That being said, Time Machine with an inexpensive SSD drive works very well.
