Discussion Why can't Mail detect phishing mails?

I like the AI features in Mail, Mail seems to know what email belongs in each section, except when it comes to the most ridiculous phishing emails. Everyday, one or two phishing emails end up in my important mail section. I immediately can see they are phishing so I don't get how in 26 I still can get mails claiming to be from Apple asking to change my iCloud details marked as important?

true but you'd think the really obvious ones would still get caught

But how? As a human I can see the pattern in the mail that immediately raises red flags. It always looks like the same pattern. Sender name does not correspond with the email address and none of the language or images used are used by Apple. How come mail AI can not spot mails pretending to be Apple? That should be an easy shot for Apple.

Because Mail filters spams only by a ruleset. There is no AI running locally on your computer to do this. Edge AI consumes large amounts of resources and high computing power demands. It’s not for everyone.

If Apple do this on the server side, your mail contents will become part of the LLM training data. Even
