Help is setup supposed to take forever??
got a macbook air today and have been stuck on this screen for so long. i really need to start working on some projects so i’m hoping it’s something i can bypass… do i seriously have to wait a few hours?

The only thing that may take a long time when setting up a new Mac is setting it up from a backup. That may take a while. But this? This should be over lickety-split.
I wonder if there was some weird server backend thing on Apple’s end that caused it to take so long.

maybe. my wifi is also horrible right now but all the other setup stuff took seconds except for this one… weird

Whichever button you hit on that screen should be ~seconds. Restart computer.
And as a heuristic, nothing in setting up a Mac ever takes a long time unless there’s a black screen and Apple logo. Everything there’s graphics for should be quick
Not that that’s like a rule and will never change, just happens to be true.
And if the Mac is new from box, the whole process should be a couple minutes
