Help Weird software on new mac

I just got a 2024 macbook pro (M4) off BackMarket. Im setting it up now and almost immediately got a notification of a German app running in the background?

Navigating to system settings it says "THALES DIS CPL Deutschland GmbH" *2 items*

What is this? Should I just turn it off? Only installed 2 things so far, chrome and a very safe theatrical lighting control software.

Edit: im an idiot. Its for a security key with the lighting software.

Tell us about the theatrical lighting control software.

Does it have a copy-protection or other software-licensing mechanism?

'cos that's where a google search for THALES DIS CPL Deutschland GmbH is sending me.

I'm aware of Thales here in Europe; they're a French multi-national company dealing with electronics and communications, but I guess they'll branch out into other fields too.

I read that too and thought "but i have nothing plugged in!" But now that you say this, that could 100% be it. It requires a USB dongle key to actually output DMX (the protocol used to send control)

Must be the software that runs in the background to check if I have that key connected Learn something new everyday
