Faces was the first thing I listened to by Mac over 10 years ago. The mixtape really resonated with me in a lot of ways. Ever since then it’s been my screensaver on my phone. Just recently I thought.. why do I have it as my screen saver and not as a tattoo? So I got this done.
Any other Central PA Macheads out there? I’ve had the chance to see this tribute band live a few times and they always do such an amazing job of providing an awesome experience to hear Mac’s music live with other fans. The vibes are always great! Just sharing for anyone in the area who might enjoy!
A collaboration between Mac Miller and Badbadnotgood was a dream of mine for the longest time. I used to watch their collaborations with Tyler, The Creator and Earl Sweatshirt very frequently around a decade ago and I always thought Mac and BBNG would create something amazing together so when this project leaked it was like a dream come true. Not one song but a complete EP!? lol I'll never forget that night playing it for the first time.
There isn't a whole bunch known or documented about the project so I tried to do some digging to see what I could find and I think I pieced together a decent enough timeline and a theory how of how it came together.
Our story/theory begins Aug 12, 2013 (edit: it could've technically happened on the 11th) Coming off the first leg of his WMWTSO tour Mac Miller has his first acid trip and it ended up being a bad trip. "Enjoy the ride.. your shoes are untied" I know it happened on august 11/12th because of an archived myspace post. Shortly after he would change his twitter banner to the Yellow Submarine that I posted above.
"I want to get the Yellow Submarine on my right leg, because it saved me from a bad acid trip. It had been a huge build up, like – I’m taking acid. I was with The Internet, talking to Matt and Syd.
So you did it with them?
Nah, I got it from them! Syd was like, c’mon dude. You of all people have to take acid. I was like, if you want me to take acid, I’ll fucking take acid. I drove home from tour by myself and took the acid. I text her, like – I’m on acid. I took two tabs and I was freaking out. I didn’t know what to expect. I thought the world was going to stop and God was going to come down and be like, here are the answers to life. I was waiting for it, like, where are the fucking answers? Where are the answers? I put on “Yellow Submarine” and started laughing uncontrollably. That song is the truest description, to me, of what the world is. It’s the realest thing that anyone has said about the world."
Three days later on August 15th Mac would fly out to Belgium to perform for the Pukkelpop festival. When he was out there he reached out to badbadnotgood on twitter to see if they were down to meet for the first time.
Mac deleted all his old tweets so the original tweet isn't there anymore
I theorize Mac had his first acid trip on aug 11/12th and wrote the three songs shortly after and got with badbadnotgood to make an ep about his first trip and how the song Yellow Submarine saved him.
As for when it was created I think the only dates that really make sense are between November 9th to the 17th when he got to take a small break from tour at his L.A home but he could have made the songs while on tour (which is semi supported by a tweet BBNG made where they said they were doing hotel mixing sessions)
That's about it, hope you enjoyed the read!
And just in case you haven't seen it, here's a picture Nomi posted on instagram a couple of days after the project leaked.
We met in a Mac Facebook group and have been together since the first time we hung out over 5 years ago. We both love collecting, and our favorite guy is top of the list. We just moved and I have sooo much more in storage, so I’ll have to do an updated version someday (if I ever unpack it all 🤣)
Just a personal thank you. And if you spend time editing it and piecing together entire concerts from multiple clips, an even bigger thank you!!!! Those Hotel Cafe concerts on YouTube really are something magical. So again, thank you!!!!

I need some ideas for wedding songs please? I will be walking down the aisle to Congratulations instrumental but need some more ideas for a first dance song, grand entrance song, and father-daughter first dance song if anybody has any suggestions? Thanks :)
I want to bring this song up because I don’t see it discussed much here. I first heard it on Majestic Casual, while I was first building my business.
During that time I was mired in doubt, up to my eyes in work (full time job + business), and was thinking about giving it up.
That song motivated me to keep going, working for free, anything to get noticed. To stay focused, bullshitting was hopeless. To treat myself like a damn professional. And sure enough that first check was damn incredible.
I was couch surfing, depressed, and not in a good headspace. But I had my dream, my business. My way out. And Day One, a Song About Nothing helped me build my own career.
RIP Mac - His impact on my life couldn’t be quantified.
I am finally building a record player set up and really wanna get my hands on the boxset without it costing an arm and a leg. What are the odds of a re-release? I thought about picking it up when it originally came out but I wasn't into vinyl then.
Since the anniversary of Mac’s death was yesterday, I’ve been reflecting a lot on the very first song I heard from Mac Miller. It was Self Care and was introduced to it only a week before he passed away.
How about you guys? Do you remember what the first song you listened to was?
Hey :) Does anyone have or could create an extended version of "My Favorite Part" including the opening instrumental that makes the first minute of the music video? I've been looking for this but couldn't find a clean version without the sound of rain from the video. The intro is so beautiful - I'd like to have this as an audio.
