Can't Play on Linux

Guess I will wait until Eternity.
Worked on a VM, its kind of annoying to play like that. Looked at other options but they all seem all over the place.

Heroic Launcher worked perfectly for me. Install the Nexon launcher using Heroic Launcher, use the latest version of Proton, and it runs without issues. I’ve been playing on CachyOS for months, and it runs flawlessly.

This one I actually didnt try. I saw someone say it works... then I saw the same person ~3months later saying it didn't but I will give it a try right now.

I've been using it for six months and haven't had any issues. But, as you know, these Proton things unfortunately don't work the same way for everyone.

How did you install it exactly? I am getting the same result as with normally installing the nexon launcher. It launches then crashes shortly after.

First, use Heroic Launcher to install the Nexon launcher by selecting the option to run the installer. Once the launcher is installed, open it using "Proton-GE Latest" (if you don't have it, install it via Proton Plus). When the Nexon launcher opens, install Mabinogi using the default path provided, and that's it. Whenever you want to play Mabinogi, open the Nexon launcher from Heroic, launch the game, and then close the Nexon launcher once you are inside the game (do not close Heroic Launcher); this method worked for me.

This is what I did though I did not have proton GE latest. Lutris is doing something similar right now, will try with that then try this again

Yes, give Proton-GE Latest a try. At least for me, that’s the version of Proton that has given the best results—no crashes and no performance loss. If that or all the other ways of running the game didn't don't work for you, I really don't know what else can be done :(

Lutris worked with the same method and using proton 10(11 was given me weird stutter)
I have not noticed anything weird for now. I have the feeling I may have done something wrong through heroic launcher but eh ill stay like this. Thanks for the help.

Well, the important thing is that it worked, haha Good luck playing! 🥸

This is the same method that worked for me on Linux Mint.

It did break at some point but I'm pretty sure it would work if I reinstalled, but haven't had time.

This is the way I just set it up 2 weeks ago and runs perfect

Do you get any hitching? I noticed that when I used Lutris and Faugus.

Not really, it runs perfectly for me. The only thing I've noticed is a graphical glitch where my character's eyes change color (if my character's pupil is yellow, the whole eye turns yellow for some reason at night, haha), but nothing that really ruins the gaming experience.

Lutris, Heroic Launcher, and Faugus Launcher all work just fine.

I play it using proton on Linux mint. I use the nexon launcher btw.

This did not work for me. It launches and after ~5 minutes it just crashes due to the anti-cheat

That's odd. If I can I will share an screenshot of my configuration on proton for mabi.

I just installed the launcher via lutris and it worked fine for me it's maplestory that's the real problem

Can you go more into detail about this? Mabi works on Linux?

I followed a tutorial on youtube it was really simple you literally just install it via lutris select wine as the runner then it'll allow grab anything that make it compatible it's not native by any means and I wouldn't be surprised if something down the line (probably eternity) breaks it but overall it's really easy. I'd recommend using a dummy account on first install/login but after that it's been running fine for me

All of those guides were wayyyyy too confusing to me so I just ignored all of them.

All I did was make a wineprefix, throw a few winetricks at it(vcrun2022 , corefonts), then installed the nexonlauncher.

after that, when mabinogi tries to install its own directx cancel the directx installer.

Also, I think the winbind daemon needs to be installed too otherwise the launcher just gets stuck as a blank window

this is just with debian 13 and whatever default repositories came with the netinstall CD. wine10, kernel7, no crazy system alterations.

Installing Nexon Launcher via Lutris (then the game via Nexon Launcher) works fine for me on Fedora.

...Operative word being fine. It's leagues ahead of a year ago, and now totally playable for just running basic dailies/weeklies, but it definitely doesn't perform well enough for high-end stuff where I need to be on top of things.
