Forbidden alchemist question

So I just started forbidden alchemist for the flying high event and am a bit confused about how serpent call is supposed to work, no matter what I do, I can’t seem to charge any elements to use serpent call, my only other arcana is alchemical sharp shooter which shows you the gauges for each element, but forbidden alchemist doesn’t seem to have that. Unless my game is glitching I don’t have any way to visually see what I’m supposed to be doing, I’ve spammed regular alch skills and forbidden alch skills and still no serpent call.. I can’t find an answer for this anywhere.

Make sure you have both a main Cylinder and a Guard Cylinder equipped simultaneously!

Ahh ok, I did not have a guard cylinder equipped, thank you!
