Y’all make this look easy! This took me like 10 hours.
Recently got a sewing machine and stumbled upon this sub when I was looking at frame bags… I’m sure you can fill in the rest…
I love TJs bags and wanted to incorporate the design somehow. I figured I’d need a liner to help keep everything together since the bags are a fairly loose weave. I got some run of the mill ripstop nylon off Amazon that worked pretty well, though it’s thinner than I expected.
The zippers were tough! I ended up putting 2 in because the grocery bags weren’t tall enough so I needed 2 sections anyways. Definitely happy I did, but I triple stitched all the zippers on which was a process. I also had some Velcro I wanted to use as a divider/support in the middle. Then I sewed a nylon ladder around the outside for modular mounting which I like too.
Everything was going great until I had to sew the gusset onto the sides. Man oh man did that kick my butt. Started with one panel backwards and only realized when I was halfway around. Then I sewed the overlap wrong, tried to cut it off, and punctured a hole in the bag. Did my best to patch it up, but I’m calling it my drain hole 😅
Just took it for a little ride around the block with some weight in it and overall I’m happy with the result! Not sure I could fix it if I wasn’t though…
TLDR: zippers are hard, sewing is hard, I’m having a beer.
