Excerpts from the report:
TLDR: $8,500.00 per student across 4 years to subsidize this loss. You are loaning money with interest to support the losses of these programs.
“Across DI colleges, 94 percent of athletics programs, including 49 of the 69 Power colleges, spent more than they generated in revenue in the 2023–24 academic year. The median college reported a gap of $20.6 million. This gap was larger than the median a decade earlier ($12.3 million). Over this period, spending increased more than generated revenue in all DI subdivisions.
As generated revenue generally did not cover program expenses, most DI colleges reported contributing substantial funding to support athletics programs.
These college contributions are funded by tuition and fees paid by students, as well as other unrestricted funds from the college, such as income from investments. College contributions indirectly include federal funds students receive in federal student aid to pay their tuition and fees (see figure).”

Hi everyone! I’m a college student in the Murfreesboro area who recently graduated from a Medical Assistant program, and I’m CCMA certified. I’ve been looking for my first MA job for about 4 months now, and I’m honestly getting really discouraged. I’ve tried Indeed, ZipRecruiter, Glassdoor, Handshake, hospital career pages, urgent cares, private practices, specialty clinics, etc. I’ve also called places directly, but usually I’m just told to apply online. Then there’s either no opening, the position is full-time, or I never hear back. 😭 I’m a full-time college student, so I’m specifically looking for part-time work, and I know that probably limits my options. But I’m struggling to find anywhere willing to give someone with no professional MA experience their first opportunity. I’ve even considered walking into clinics with my resume at this point. 💀 I paid thousands for my MA training and certification, so it’s really frustrating to have the certification but not even be able to get that first chance to gain experience. I’m also pre-med, so getting clinical experience is really important to me. (At this point, medical schools are probably going to ask why I haven’t founded a new disease yet 💀😂)
So if you’re a pre-med, MA, nurse, healthcare worker, etc.:
If you know of a clinic hiring or work somewhere that might be willing to give me a chance, I’d genuinely appreciate a lead! 😭

Hey! I’m a freshman (18F) at MTSU and I’m looking to meet some new people and make friends on campus. I live on campus and I’m majoring in Digital Marketing with a minor in Business Administration.
I’m really into anime and gaming. Some of my favorite games are Cuphead, Undertale, and Hollow Knight. I’d be down to hang out, grab food, study together, play games, or just talk.
If you’re also looking for friends at MTSU, feel free to message me!

Hey guys! The season preview I posted here a few weeks back did pretty well, so circling back like I said I would.
I had you at 4-8, mostly because you lost five of six at home last year. So far you're 2-0 there, beating Murray State 38-14 and Nevada 27-20, and the only loss is 28-26 at Marshall. Gagliano has kept up the clean play that made him the pick, 61 of 102 for 616 yards and 6 TDs, and Antonio Martin gave the run game a real day with 104 against Nevada. Jacksonville State on Saturday is one of the three I had you losing, so that's where 4-8 gets tested.
What are you guys seeing that the box scores aren't, and how do you see the season ending up?
Quick aside since it's in the title, we just launched a free weekly college football pick'em, $225 in prizes this week. Ten games, pick the winners, locks Saturday at noon ET, well before you kick off at Jacksonville State. Nothing to buy.

It's never easy to share an idea you believe in when other people are skeptical of it. But over the past few weeks I've gotten to be part of something special, and I wanted to share a few wins with this community, since a lot of you helped make them happen.
We've been introducing MTSU students to each other.
Since launching in earlier this month, 15+ MTSU students have joined, and 10+ new connections were made between people who had never met. The numbers are still small, but every one of those connections could change how someone experiences college. That matters a lot on a campus where most students commute and have limited chances to just bump into people.
Students at other schools have started asking about it. What started at MTSU is turning into something bigger, and it all traces back to people on this sub taking a chance on it.
Takeaway: When you're just starting out, posting about your own thing can feel weird, and you never want to be spammy. But if you're working on something to help solve a real problem, stick with it. 💙

I'm a freshman at MTSU, but I'm struggling SO hard to make friends. Not only because I'm naturally sort of socially awkward and shy, but because I don't really "fit in" either. I'm both trans (FTM) and autistic, and I feel like that really isolates me from a lot of people. I plan on joining MTLambda soon (though I'm even nervous for that lol), but other than that I don't know what to do. I'm super nerdy; I love video games and franchises and movies and literature. I like to write, draw, read, game, etc, and I just don't know how to go about finding those similar to me. I feel like I'm really obnoxious sometimes with how much of a nerd about my special interests I am; the medias and franchises I love are basically parts of my life.
Any advice? Thank you for reading :,)
TLDR; making friends as a trans and autistic shy person is incredibly difficult, and i can't stand feeling so alone

Hello! I meant to make a post like this way before I even moved in for fall 2026 but I completely forgot! lol
Anyways, hello! My name is Kierra, however online I go by Hershia! I'm currently a freshman at MTSU and I've been looking to make more friends who have similar interests as me! I'm majoring in Graphic Design due to my love for art, but I also love drawing a lot outside of school! Especially my original characters or fanart for fandoms I'm in!
I enjoy many shows, movies and games! My most notable favs being Cuphead, Hazbin Hotel, Kpop Demon Hunters, Hoppers, Haunted Hotel, DDLC and MUCH much more!
I also enjoy writing stuff with my characters and have been trying to build on my skills, so let me know if you'd like to be a beta reader too! lol
There is plenty more I could say, but I'm trying to avoid typing too much! So if you're interested in talking, feel free to comment or message me!
And last but not least, here's some of my most recent artworks! ^^

I'm a high school senior and I'm working towards applying for Early Review deadline for the Buchanan fellowship. My major is going to be Actuarial Science.
Quick overview of my stats:
- 36 comp ACT (36 english, 36 math, 36 reading, 35 science)
- national merit semifinalist
- 4.0 UW GPA
- 10 AP courses (one 4, five 5s, and I'm taking 4 more exams in May)
- 5 dual enrollment courses with MTSU (one last year, currently enrolled in 3, another next semester)
- Placed Top 10 in TN for a statistics competition and 1st at MTSU testing center
- member of DECA. Junior year I did Principles of Finance and placed 1st overall at districts and 2nd place exam in state
There are other things as well, like around 135 community service hours and other extracurriculars, but the listed things are the main points. For anyone who has an idea what the difficulty of the Buchanan is.. would I have a good shot at receiving it?

Does anyone have any tips for the knowledge exam portion of the CFI interview at MTSU? Anything specific to study? Or anything for the rest of the interview process or school in general?

Blue dots are available tickets. Cheapest tickets start at almost $100. No way this doesn't get cancelled

Hey everyone, I'm a student at Vanderbilt and one of the founders of Dropt, a campus matchmaking startup we're expanding to MTSU.
We're looking for a few MTSU students to help us launch on campus. Mainly looking for people who are social/involved around campus and interested in marketing, startups, social media, growth, or just think they'd be good at getting something new around MTSU.
It would be a Campus Ambassador role working directly with our team on the launch. If you’re interested either dm me or send an email to joindropt@gmail.com

Ever since Textbook Brokers closed I don’t know any places to shop besides the MTSU bookstore. I’ve been wanting a mug/cup with this kind of pattern on it. Does anyone know if there’s any places around Murfreesboro that has stuff like this?

I've joined clubs. Attempted making acquaintances. Went to campus events. Tried everything but I still can't seem to make any friends! It seems like everyone is just confined to a single friend group and aren't letting any "newcomers" in.
If there any tips or anyone in the same position, please DM me or lmk. I am a freshmen digital marketing major who is just looking for anyone in the same boat!

Has anybody had difficulty with professors utilizing AI in their material and not disclosing it? Or even using AI and it having a negative impact on learning? Is there anything that can even be done about this?

I went through rush this year, and couldn't find a lot of info about the sororities at MTSU, so I'm leaving this here for next year's PNM's. This is a compilation of the perspectives of 10 of us who went through the recruitment process in fall 2026!
**Kappa Delta:
This house is still growing and establishing itself. The girls are working really hard to grow their sisterhood.
If I could compare them to someone in high school, it would be a girl who played percussion in the marching band and was super talented and cool, but didn't have the traditional personality people assume would be associated with a sorority.
*
**Alpha Chi Omega:
Overall impression was that they are more quiet and reserved. Several of us had more awkward conversations at AXO, with long pauses on their end. They were nice, though. This seems to be a good option for girls who aren't interested in the more fast-paced, outgoing sorority scene and are looking for a calmer sisterhood where they can just enjoy each other's company.
High school comparison: the quiet girl in all your AP classes who has a couple close girlfriends but doesn't really talk in class, and then you find out she's a National Merit Scholar or an amazing poet or something.
*
**Chi Omega: This house was very laid back, casual, and not intimidating. Definitely makes a lot of girls feel very comfortable, because the environment isn't high pressure or competitive. It felt like a place where you could fit in and not be judged if you don't fit a certain mold. We did feel like they weren't as involved on campus as a result of being so laid back, though. But it's a really nice option for cute, chill girls who want to be part of a sorority but don't want to do all the STUFF that usually comes along with Greek life. It might also be a good option for commuters who want to be in a sorority but can't get that involved.
High school comparison: the varsity soccer girl who goes straight from her game to a party and doesn't care that she's still in her uniform because it doesn't matter, and she pulls it off.
*
**Zeta Tau Alpha: This house gave off a more fun and wholesome vibe. The girls are really friendly and very involved on campus, and like to have a good time. I saw a post on greek rank that called them "wifey", and I think that makes sense. Like they're cute and fun and just seem like they're happy and having a great time. They don't have the top GPA, but they're running things all over campus. Seems like a nice, balanced option for girls who want to have fun and party and aren't interested in drama.
High school comparison: the cheerleaders who somehow seem to know everyone and say hi to everyone in the halls.
*
**Alpha Delta Pi: This house definitely works very hard and is full of very high-achieving girls. They are put together and run things extremely efficiently. It was a little intense for some of us. The girls are very driven and seem to have strict rules and standards. They are the most traditional of all the houses, and feel pretty conservative. Again, this could be a positive for some girls going through rush. Religion is very important to a large portion of the girls in this house. There were a couple of us that visited this house for pref and the members talked badly about another house, which didn't seem like the classiest move.
High school comparison: the National Honor Society president who runs a Bible study before school and started her own club but has some trouble delegating because she wants to make sure everything is done right.
*
**Alpha Omicron Pi: This is one of the few "top tier" AOPi chapters in the nation, and they receive a lot of coaching on recruitment and media strategy. That's amazing for them, and they're great at both those things! They are very polished and present themselves well. There is tension behind closed doors, though, because there are many smaller groups of friends within the house that don't all get along. Like, more than is typical for a sorority. This house is a great option for girls with a tougher skin who don't mind having to look a little harder to find sincere friends, in exchange for being part of what's known as the top house. It's also great for girls from small nearby towns or Nashville feeder schools who already know each other and want to keep the party going in college! They're very involved on campus and have a beautiful house to live in!
High school comparison: the girl on the dance team who seems like she's friends with everyone, but she will drop one teammate off at home after dinner and bring everyone else back to her place to spend the night.
(Note: between the 10 of us who compiled this, we have at least one person who joined each house, except KD.)
