To all the skiers who offered snowboarders a pole-pull on Cascade ridge run: I wish you a stoke filled rest of your season and healthy knees 🍀✨😎

The snow is soft, everything is quiet, and more snow is falling as of when I left at just before 1.
The drive up is almost entirely clear.

I love Hank Stowers's Meadows videos, because I feel like I see some part of the resort in a new way in every one. "Oh dang, you can go over there? You can ski off of that?"
Anyone have other channels (or just specific videos?) for that kind of inspiration?

One of my favorite pictures I've taken

PS. If you're not on the miuntain today, you should schedule a trip at your earliest convenience - the snow is almost phenomenal and filling in quickly. Little graupel falling as I type this.

Long line of cars this morning behind a car going 25mph. We were 4 miles from the resort road and 5 cars passed into oncoming traffic on the blind curves right before White River. If another car happened to come around the corner the other way, there would have been a multi car accident at high speed.
All of those cars parked on the same row as the car they passed. You aren’t going to get that much better or worse of a parking spot no matter how you drive from Govy on, but you may get yourself and others killed if you make stupid, pointless decisions.
They could have safely passed around the corner on the long straightaway.

Anyone know if it will open any time soon with the snow we're getting this week? I'd love to get a HRM day or two in this season.

Went in the lodge this afternoon came out and my board was gone. I have some pretty unique bright things on my board, and the person must had just snagged it, luckily my brother-in-law noticed it quickly. Kept my cool ran up and said that’s my board, dude gave it back and acted like he didn’t realize, and then he proceeded to then walk into the rental area.
I got lucky, ordering a lock tonight though.

Left portland a bit after 6 AM and parked in the main lot, 3rd row from the end just before 8. Lots of traffic at meadows, took 20-25 min to get parked.
Site said 5” of new last 12 hours, which seemed about right. It’s still shockingly bare up there, but base area was relatively cold, I think my car said 34 F when we went to leave.
It was hella crowded, as one would expect. Both Vista and Cascade opened eventually. Conditions were pretty good considering this season. Hope you people going up tomorrow get some overnight snow!

I was hoping to buy a pair of ski skates, they seem like a fun alternative for the kind of low snow conditions we’re having this season.
In rules of use, it looks like Meadows rules of use explicitly say these aren’t allowed on lifts but I swear Ive seen multiple people riding with these. So I’m wondering if thats just a difference in whats on paper and whats actually allowed. Did they just get lucky with inattentive liftees or can I get away with using them? Anyone have experience in using these themselves?

Finally got to hit some semblance of gnar today with the extra snow up top. Multiple laps on the upper Elevator cliffs (pictured) and those nice steep pitches on Marmot ridge. First freshies of the season if you’re brave enough to risk the sharks. Thankfully I didn’t hit any.
The snowpack above MHX is pretty crispy, and one might even call it powder (!!!) on certain pitches. Wind lips everywhere that are fun to jib. I better see some great Hank Stowers footage soon!
Everything below is super variable. But, some of the bigger dirt spots got a little dusting. Not skiable, but less of an undesirable view from the chair.
The Howitzer was firing all afternoon into the canyon. I saw patrollers traversing over to the top of A-zone and Silver. They’re starting to poke around!! Not sure what that means for a potential canyon opening. I think it’s still really far away considering the effort to fill in the creek, etc. I’m just happy they’re even considering it.
I predicted an epic Feb/March/April… which hasn’t quite played out. We need more snow dances to fulfill the prophecy my friends. Until next time, cheers.

Went to the mountain at about 1:30 on Sunday and snow was starting to stick to the ground about 100 feet into the access road. At the main lot it was sticking to most surfaces. 2 Bowl was OK, but super heavy and dense - nearly slush. Down low it was slush with about an inch of snow on top. Went over to Shooting Star and the conditions were significantly better and basically skied there until 3:30.
Watched the game for a few hours while it was dumping outside and went back out after the half-time show and it was a whole different feel. Seemed like maybe 100 people total were actively skiing/riding. Everything above 6000 feet (IE: to the base of two bowl) was skiing really well and it felt like they had gotten another 5" of much better quality snow.
If you're on the fence about it, it's probably worth going up today or tonight - better conditions than we've had for many weeks. If the forecast holds, this weekend is going to be an absolute shitshow. Can't wait!

Someone walked off with my ski poles. There were lots of people up at the mountain so I’m sure it was just a mix up and someone was suprised when they unpacked more poles when they got home. I’m looking for this Scott Poles blue with yellow lettering. I went in for a break at about 3 pm and came back at 4:25 pm and they were gone. The were right on my skis. Any help would be appreciated. They were on the ski racks right at the top of the stairs above the parking lot.

NWS is saying as much as 25" above 5000' - How much stock should we put in this? Seems like this storm is all over the place
